Ref with the second assist on the GWG in the Phoenix game. I'm happy, Doan is on my fantasy team.

Agreed. I've watched a half dozen Leafs games this year and they've looked good. So long as the players buy in Carlyle's system will still produce results. I like how fast and physical they are - it's pretty entertaining to watch.

Remember when Oilers fans tried to tell us that Whitney was a new player and a legitimate number one defenseman in the league after playing ~40 games with them? And we laughed at them?

I just saw now on the main boards that he's recently been a healthy scratch. Funny how that works.

Yeah, last year they said he was worth a 1st at the trade deadline if they were willing to let him go. Even when he wasn't helping them, they wouldn't let him go for less than a 1st. He's been a health scratch a few times already this season.

Not only a healthy scratch, but publicly *****ing about it. "We were outshot 40-14 and they still won't put me in!"

He was playing well for them during that season. He then woke up from his dream.

We got a dozen or so great games from him before the Olympic teams were picked in the 09-10 season - he and Brookbank were paired together and were surprisingly good. Then he wasn't picked for the Olympics and started playing like **** again. He eventually made it as an injury replacement though.

One of Murrays worst trades was trading Kunitz for Whitney while one of Murrays best trades was trading Whitney for Visnovsky.

Howson fired. Wonder if Burke gets considered as a replacement.

Yeah, any player can have a good stretch. That's the thing with Whitney. He doesn't give you that consistency. Having a good stretch doesn't make him a legit #1 defenseman.

If they had put RW in, they would've been outshot 60-14

King Schultz is a -2 today against Dallas

EDIT: Please tell me someone just saw that!?

Schultz skating towards his own net, and trips over the back of the net and goes into the boards

Even better was him chasing that guy down the entire length of the ice feebly trying to hack him while the guys goes down the wing, cuts to the middle of the ice basically right through Schultz and roofs it for the 4th goal.

He is a negative 2 on the year overall as well? What? Impossible.

I thought it was an NHL rule he could not be in negative numbers. HOF'ers have earned that luxury right?

And the Oil is sitting in 11th and is a minus 5 in goals. Lucky King Justin chose to go to a contender this year right?

So I saw the Staal brothers are going into business, making nutraceuticals. The story goes that one of the brothers had a stubborn wart that wouldn't go away, and they came up with an herbal remedy. Staalwort, for your stalwart Staal wart. Yeah.

Hate to say but Justin will become what we expected him to be. He is already really good.

On the Oilers being a contender, well, I doubt their team will ever win a Cup. Too soft, not enough willingness. To me, while looking at their CAP situation, they have a window now + 2 years.

They have to resign Gagner, RNH, Paajarvi, Whitney, Schultz, Smid, Dubnyk within the next two seasons. This can be really expensive. And after it, it's still a soft team that lacks a good goalie and a stable defense. They will need a bigger cut to succeed.

It's some kind of funny, at the Ducks, Justin would be the #1 off. defender right now. And he would play on a hot team. Just think the Oilers have booked a loosers mentality

Yeah, I saw that later on the replay. I had just turned the game on and saw Schultz on the jersey then turned the channel to the Vancouver game assuming that wasn't their defensively oriented Schultz. It was still funny to watch though.

On a positive note, it's good to see the Lubo pick gaining value game by game.

Mikko Koivu is a kleptomaniac. First he steals Bobby's stick, then last night he rips off (literally) Alex Burrow's glove and throws it into the Wild's bench. I'm waiting for him to tear off someone's pants. Haha.

Tangradi for a 7th...lol

Didn't we peg him as a future 100% top6 after his best season in the O?

My my have times changed. The Vis trade looks that much better.

i would've given a 7th or a 6th for tangradi.. im sure the pens would've rather traded him to a west team than an east.

he could've gotten a shot with getzlaf/perry. he plays their style of game

Oh yeah. He was a big scorer and expected to be top 6 material. When we included him with Kunitz for Whitney it didn't go over too well anywhere in ANA. Of course in hindsight a 7th alone was about what we should have paid for Whitney. Even Kunitz alone was too much.

And I am very much liking how the Isles are currently playing.
