True that. It never gets old. If Gaborik doesn't turn into a Callahan kind of player while continuing scoring at the same rate, the complaining will continue.

I think it was a pretty road game for the most time. Then came the last five minutes and it turned into disaster.

Glad we got the two points (important both for the standings and psychologically), but man we need to get better at clearing the puck. We got pinned into our own zone far too long in the last minutes and it ultimately cost us. Oh and nobody is really sursprised anymore, but we wasted yet another 5-on-3 chance.

POTG for me: Hagelin (boy is he fast), Nash and Stralman (glad he finally got a goal)
HM for Girardi who had a great game

Your nobility is appreciated. I'm pretty sure the respect is mutual between these two teams, so I'm not sure why some of us are getting so wound up over who dominated whom. But if we're going to dissect, here's what I'd say: each of these teams dominated a different facet of the game, and this is why we get divergent takes on this board:

1) Goaltending: significant edge to the Rangers tonight.
2) Defense: Rangers, by a significant margin.(the B's breakdowns were quite glaring tonight; perhaps if I were a NY fan I'd be noticing the visiting teams' breakdowns more, who knows...)
3) Neutral zone: Bruins, by a significant margin
4) Forwards/O-zone: Rangers made the best of their chances. B's maintained possession more via cycling, forecheck and board work, but were deficient in net-front presence and slot traffic.

So basically, different people focus on different things. To my eyes, the B's had the edge in puck possession and neutral zone. This is what causes many on this thread to say the B's outplayed NYR. But that's really only half the story. Despite all that possession, the B's didn't translate it into dangerous chances. Way too many shots from the perimeter, as others have noticed. What's more, I thought the Rangers D were unusually good with their sticks and their hits tonight. I'm not talking about spectacular, booming hits, but just enough body at the right time to get B's off the puck. Henrik was mostly solid, but he was also helped by good protection of the net front by his D.

This has become an old story though, when we face the Rangers. It's not unusual for the B's to have the puck a lot; but it's also not unusual that the B's tend not to be able to pierce Tortorella & Henrik's citadel nearly as much as they'd like to.

Incidentally, though I know we can be ridiculously homerish with the best (or worst) of them, generally the B's board is quick to admit when we are thoroughly outplayed yet still eke out a win (this is a common theme when we play the Habs), so I honestly don't think that those on this thread who insist that we outplayed the Rangers are simply "sore losers". I think this is what they honestly see in the game. Because they focused on certain facets, as discussed above.

Anyhoo, twas a great game, and strangely one that both teams can take nearly equal amounts of comfort and discomfort in. NYR fully deserved the extra point, though.
SnowBlind is cool.
As for me, I hate the Bruins (lucic, marchand, mcquaid and the big dope, chara). Enjoy the undeserved point .

(Habs fan blahblahblah in peace)

Im happy for you guys to get this extra point against the Boons. Although living through such a comeback is annoying as f...

I heard about Lucic taking a savage swing McDonagh. Is this true? Was there a penalty? Is McDonagh injured?

Most important, is there a YT of the play? I am surprised, if it's true, that this hasn't reached the main board yet.

hand pass leading to a goal is so frustrating. the refs need to be on this, but apparently nobody else saw it either cause there was zero argument on the ice. nash forcing a penalty to break the shutout is as well...one of those instances that brian boyle is missed. great game til that <15m stretch(plus ot).

always tough to have 3 goals go in on us in 1 period.

hagelin was good, nash was great until lucic got in his head, lundqvist was our best player (albeit he could've been better in the third. looked like he was second guessing himself after the first goal), stepan was good, richards looked better aside from that ot shift, he's getting there. 4th line still looks good out there. the line changes still look awful, but the lines looked great. pyatt looked a little indecisive at times/mdz has lost his swagger... dunno if it's confidence or what, but he doesn't look like he did to start the season, i hope he recovers fast.

LETS NOT FORGET: Gaborik manhandling Chara!!! probably the highlight of the game for me. Gaborik loves playing against this guy, wish he could've bought a goal, but it was definitely great to watch.

The way I see it.

Boston Bruins is a heck of a team, hard, skilled, tough @home and we where 3-1 up till the last 3 mins. Bruins with all their mentality and skill got back in the end and they deserved it, Bruins played really good last night.

Big win from imo the best team in the NHL, and on their home turf.

Super job and Rangers fans will always be Rangers fans, I just wonder how many are driven away from this negative forum. I just stopped reading last night cause it is just to pathetic what is said inhere. We lose, we suck, richard this and that, gaborik lol and in the end we won.

Boston Bruins, I can't stand them. but what a team! Atleast we can beat them unlike the crybaby pens, who seems to have the Rangers number. Our record vs this Bruins team s is pretty good the last seasons.

Yep good point. Sure we gave the point away. We should never have let them back in it. However, if you look at the game as a whole Boston deserved a point. I don't get people who think we dominated them. I think we dominated them for a stretch in the 3rd. Other than that I think they outplayed us a bit. They deserved a point and that's what they got. They deserved this point far more than they did last game's point.

The Rangers have completed 25% of their schedule. 25% of that schedule was spent playing Boston. The Bruins have 3 losses. The Rangers have handed them two of them. The Rangers came back on Boston in April 2011. Its hockey. It happens. The Rangers have scored 12 goals in the last 3 games. 4 goals per game. The Rangers should be putting up 3-4 goals a game. The Rangers are 7-3 in their last 10 after starting the season 0-2. The Rangers are finished with Boston when they haven't played Montreal,Ottawa,Washington,Florida,Winnipeg,Caroli na and Buffalo yet. They will play those teams 3 times each.

Yep, the toughest part of our schedule is over. We're playing a bunch of mediocre teams at home in the next 3 (I guess Montreal may be slightly better than that and I'd be worried in Montreal). It'll be a travesty if this team didn't win the next 3 for a 6 game winning streak. Hell I didn't look past 5 games from now but given Spezza's injury we should really win 8 in a row (including the 3 we already won). I'll be really disappointed if we don't win 4 of the next 5 at least.

Wont be easy considering we have Sens and Habs on the road with 3 home games (Isles, Caps, Habs).

Sens are a good team and they are tough to beat at home. Rangers in Montreal is never pretty. I'm hoping for 3 home wins and then maybe pinching a point from the 2 road games. I think we get a point from Sens and lose to Habs.

Girardi was awful last night. Couldn't get the puck out of the zone to save his life. He totally lost his man on the tying goal, letting that crow faced midget get behind him

Marchand was fortunate that the puck bounced back to him.

Anyone know wtf Richards was doing the first shift of OT? sliding that puck for no reason through the crease?

Also, standard Rangers move by blowing a 3 goal lead in the 3rd. Sometimes, you just know when the momentum was completely shifting and it was for Boston in the last 5 min.

Glad to pick up the 2 pts though. Amazing move by Nash and sniper by Cally to ship the win.

Trying to score? Maybe he got concussed again this season. Because he plays like he is confused a lot.

And I'm no Boyle fan boy, but I think he would have been useful at the end of that game protecting the lead.

I wasn't around the GDT but was it mentioned how many runs the Bruins players were taking? Lucic took runs at Gaborik, Nash, Stepan and McDonagh and Marchand took a massive run at Miller. No response.

I'm not going to think about the 3-3 tie all that much. We've been more scrambled in our zone before with only a 1 goal deficit during the empty net and have resulted in 0 goals in many of those situations. One too many bounces for them and goals that came off of sticks that executed well. Between the two, I'd be worried about the PP. This team is scoring at an amazing pace 5 on 5. If we can get the PP going, somehow, any way, whenever, it would be the extra drive that we need to do well.

Girardi was strong - but the puck flew off his stick at least 2-3 times, which caused us problems. Once he had a close shot on the PP, another time he failed to keep the puck in the zone (which led to a B's scoring chance). I wondered if there was something up with his hands/wrists.

The shanked PP shot came at the end of a good sequence for us, IIRC.

Nash should have punched Lucic in the face instead of taking a hooking penalty. Its 2 minutes either way. Make them count.

This. People here were saying why it was okay for him to take the penalty for "getting revenge" or for "defending himself," but it was a hooking penalty.

I don't care either way since we won, but I rather not have given Boston a free point.
