I get pissed because this guy should be a shoe in for the Norris if he had some talent to play with. With Spezza out everyone is looking at KArlsson to do it all on his own.

Love this kid, best player in the game and with some decent forwards he would be putting up 80+ points in a full season every year.

I haven't gotten the chance to watch many games besides the Sens so far this season because of working overnights. Can anyone who watches lots of games give me their top 5 NHL defenceman this season?

I dont get to watch all of them, but my list would be:
Karlsson
Pietro
Edler
Kronwall
Letang

Excluding great defensive pairings like Keith - Seabrook, Salo - Hedman because i dont know who to give credit.

I dont think there is any doubt that EK is the frontrunner for the Norris again. I'd go so far to say it isnt even close. His game is complete. His offensive ability is as strong as ever, and defensively, he has improved greatly.

IMHO, EK is in the top 3 players in the world.

Nucks fans were pretty disappointed with Edler (lots ot turnovers and bad decision making despite a few points) after the first 5 games, not sure how he has performed since. I stayed up late to watch their first few games and he sucked but those left coast games killed my sleep and I haven't seen them play since. Maybe he has turned it on lately?

I feel sorry for out of town hockey fans that don't get to watch Karl on a regular basis. They get the highlite reel stuff, mainly good and some bad, but don't get the nuance of the shift after shift excellence.

I also think it is time for a "KARL, KARL" chant! I was ready last night after the short-handed goal!

Problem is there are a lot of people that vote based on stats, rather than watching games. He may not be as dominant this year in that department. Still think he may hit 50 points though.

Word is spreading that he's a much better player than last year. He won't have to decimate the competition to win it again, he'll just have to be the best.

Its not like he is having a bad offensive year, kid is leading all d men in goals and if his teammates could finish he would be over ppg. Just last night he could have had 3 or 4 points had alfie and turris converted on their open nets

No no no. The home crowd needs to learn the chorus to this song, and sing it. Like in British football.

the only thing that's ridiculous here is anyone thinking Phillips will be the next captain.
The only discussion over Phillips is - will he get another contract with ottawa?

im going with no.

Some posters who haven't experienced much in life, wrongly assume that the # of years a player has been with an organization = degree of leadership ability.

Weird as hell

He's best worrying about finishing this one. Not groundbreaking type impact but he's a guy who would be very easy to replace with someone more effective.

Why the DJ wont play this when he scores is beyond me. Instead we get some ****** top 40 EDM crap by Flo Rida.

This version is way better though

If you listen to interviews or even just watch the team its abundantly clear that Phillips is a big leader on the team.

Safe to say that Karlsson is on the NHLs divers list for this season after last night?

I still can't understand how a guy that small can get so much on his shot.

Love the lyrics for that song:

Karlsson! Karlsson! The world's best Karlsson!
Karlsson! Karlsson! Hey, here comes Karlsson!
Karlsson! Karlsson! No, I like no Karsson as much as me!

Karlsson! Karlsson! The world's best Karlsson!
beautiful, nice, moderately fat Karlsson
the wise, the wonderful Karlsson!
No wonder everyone likes me.

Sometimes of course
somebody gets mad at me
and set to a heavenly life,
When I destroyed some thing.
But what is there to fight about,
it is a worldly thing!
And guess who comes here
with a motor on his back!

It's Karlsson, hurray, hurray, hurray
It's Karlsson, hurray, hurray, hurray
It's Karlsson, hurray, hurray, hurray for me

Karlsson, Karlsson! Hello here comes Karlsson!
Get out of the way because here comes Karlsson,
yes this is the best Karlsson
Now, all cheer loud for me.

Was it a dive or did the stick catch him in the side of the head? The angle of the whistleblowing video that calls it a dive is inconclusive at best.

I know this doesn't warrant a real answer.

Strength and power are neural activities and Karlsson is a very very efficient athlete. He's got the explosiveness of a typical 190-200 pound NHLer in a 175 pound body.

He was blessed to an extent, but it's also been honed with training and part of the aim of that training was to avoid weight gain.
