OHMYGOD. Jack Edwards..... awesome.

His jumping was a little "Pierre-esque" honestly, and his call about their "hearts of lions" sounds like something I would have said when I was playing NHL2000 and commentating for my team, but hey, good for him. He has his dream job, and I respect the passion he has for it.

You know, I have hated him a lot over the past. However, I've found he's been a lot less homerish lately, and my hate is lessening

You must not hear him often...he is a B's fan, no doubt, but I think he is more of a hockey fan in general. He often sounds equally excited about the other team scoring as he does the B's. Definitely the same emotion for goals against as goals for...

I freaking love Jack Edwards..haters can suck it.

Not a B's fan, but I really like Edwards. He is REALLY knowledgeable and does appreciate other teams good plays and players as much as anyone.

Jack LOVES the sport. He is a nutcase and a yahoo when it comes to fighting and penalties, however he generally gives the opponent praise. I will concede he has this bad habit of belitting the other teams 4th liners, which has always pissed me off (see the scott/thornton fight). But his excitement over plays like that sick nash pass is a pretty common occurance.

Love it. Can't really hate on Edwards when I practically jumped out of my chair last night as well. I feel his extreme passion/joy when things go well for the B's overshadows the credit he does give the opposition when they make plays. Although, he does take his homerism to the limit with players/teams he doesn't like.
But my god, the man cannot call a fight. He tries to make every fight sound like Ali vs Frazier.

I love how Brick goes to celebrate, then just pumps his jacket like a boss.

I love Edwards because despite him being a homer occasionally, he's one of the very few regional broadcasters that actually gives the opposing team credit. Hell, I've heard him give more praise to Leaf players than the Leaf broadcasters.

Yeah he's pretty fair, over the top but fair.

And he's better prepared than most broadcasters.

Anyone who thinks JE is a complete Homer has to watch the broadcast of last night's NYR game...

He is CLEARLY a big fan of Rick Nash... and was ready to soil himself on Nash's assist... (in fact - he may have indeed)

Sure he got all Jack-ish at the comeback at the end of the game, but that's just part of the magic that IS Jack Edwards.

Bingo -

If you watch and listen without blind hatred - you'll see that Jack gets just as excited for opponents and their great plays as he does for the B's... He's just an excitable boy. Over the top? Completely. But he does make it interesting.

This. I'm not a huge Jack Edwards fan at all, but he's never unprepared for a broadcast. I think for anyone with Center Ice, you start to gain an appreciation for certain things other than style, and for me, attention to detail and knowledge of the players on both teams are important. Jack can tell you where every single player on the opponent played their college/junior/High School/Europe hockey. To me, that's valuable. I like knowing backstory about guys. It pains me when announcers get names wrong, confuse players with other players (if I had a nickel for every time Krejci and Peverley get confused I'd be rich), and seemingly know nothing about less prominent players.

Again, I'm not a huge fan of the Jack Edwards Schtick, but I can appreciate his level of preparedness compared to some other donkeys out there.

He comes really well prepared, and he does appreciate opposition team's plays quite well. Sometimes even better than the other team's crew itself.

There are plenty of good reasons to hate on Jack Edwards, but having listened to some Sharks broadcasts this year there is NO comparison. I'll take Jack Edwards for every game for the rest of my life vs. having to listen to those guys call a playoff series.

Drew Remenda makes the Bruins crew look like the most measured unbiased minds in the hockey world.

IDK apparently the broadcaster of a team can't be a fan or root for the team.
