"The entire game is played using the two analog sticks (although the old school controls are still available in the menu). Passing, shooting, poking, checking, all on the two sticks, triggers, and bumpers." ... I dunno how well that can work.

I say it can work quite well. Especially for goalie controls.

I plan on buying an xbox360 when this game comes out.

Their game sucks more each year. I heard they did the game in Montreal this time. Maybe that means they have a new staff and utimately that means the game could be better. I guess the analog stick is a great idea to get rid of the impossible dekes they had in 2006... Anyways, I lost confidence in the series YEARS ago.

It's the most realistic hockey game there is. If you tell me the 2K series is, then.. just... wow, I don't even know. I play it every year, hoping for a great game. I gave it many chances this year. On PS2, on 360... the game is just bad, with horrible physics.

Last years version was a bit better, but it got boring real quick. But yeah, with good settings, it's way better than 2K...

I know the guys who are working on the game because I play with EA Montreal in a cosom league, and they told me NHL 2007 will looks like NHL 2006 but just updated. They told me each 2 years, there is a new ''motor game'' for the game. NHL 2006 was the first year, and then NHL 2007. Anyway, the goalie will be way better with realistic moves and better d-men. Dynasty mode is returning, and looks like the ''big thing'' in the game. It's gonna be wayyyyyyy more difficult when you'll play Difficulty mode. If you play easy, you'll score like 10 goals in a game, but if you play difficult, watch out! Brief, the game will be better then NHL 2006 because it's gonna be a more realistic game then a arcade game.

I agree. I use to be a EA hardcore fan but since 3 years I am a 2k hardcore fan. I really hope that NHL 07 is as good as the review says, i would more than happy to go back to EA.

i have a friend who works for EA. Yes, the game has a whole host of new staff on it. Being done in Montreal.

So i DO expect it to be better then the previous outings.

And whoever says the 2k series is better, sure it's more "realistic". But if you're idea is to play a game that feels like your players are skating in molasse, terrible music, horrific commentating and where it pretty much requires a Ph.D in operating it, then ok!

But for those of us who like the fast arcade paced action, where you can just pick it up and play, EA's game has always served it's purpose.

Plus where else are you gonna do: Ribs + Zednick + Bonk for Lecavalier?

Did you read the IGN first look? For the xbox 360, they redone the game from scracth (puck physics, gameplay, actions with lose puck, hitting, shooting, goalies, etc...)

I play games for realism. EA's series is way more realistic. You just need to tone down the speed and hitting a bit.

So you can confirm the PC version will not be the Xbox 360 version with the new engine? (This one is made in Vancouver btw!)

I know the NHL 07 for PS, PS2 and Xbox will be exactly like the NHL 06, but since 1 month theres a big shroud of mystery as to witch version the PC will get. No answer from EA! I hope the PC gets the Xbox 360 version, since its probably capable of running it.

i dunno if you've played the first NHL 2k game back on the dreamcast, but that game was DREADFUL...i played it for like 5 minutes (actually bought it for like 5$ or something) and never touched it again.

I agree with you. Im an EA man myself.

They never did anything that come close to 2002. And it's not like the graphics are much better in 2006. Let's hope 2007 will be good.

Can anyone confirm if Jim Hughson is still doing the commentating or have they brought in someone else? I hope Doc Emmrick is doing it.

Will the PC version look and play the same as the xbox 360 version?

nope. PC is not going to be next-gen. Maybe 08 will be. DirectX 10 isn't even out yet, so it's not really possible.

The Dynasty mode will rock : the new CPA,the salary cap, waivers, one and two way contracts, confidence level for rookies and veterans, etc...

Thats stupid IMO. Why would they restrict the pc version to last years game when the other consoles get the next gen? Doesn't make sense. If its anything like 2006, I'll probably download it and stop playing after a month or so. stupid stupid stupid.... EA always finds a way to screw over its customers.
