He's a ways away from being NHL ready.

Has any other AHL team lost so many?

I know OKC lost the big 4 from the Oil when the lockout ended but the Leafs lost Kadri, Frattin, Fraser and Kostka, on top of their #1 goalie in Scrivens to the NHL. Aucoin was lost on waivers. Holzer has now been called up and looks like he should stay.

So has any other AHL team lost so many players?

Carter Ashton and Jerry D'Amigo.

They are a less than 2 months apart in age.

Ashton - 43 games 10 goals 16 points
D'Amigo - 40 games 7 goals 15 points

If Ashton deserved a NHL look-see last year does Jerry deserve one next?

Are both these boys developing as hoped for?

My impressions was that Ashton was very young, but he is less than 2 months younger than D'Amigo who seldom gets the same sort of expectations allocated to / expected of him. Perhaps it it all draft position hype?

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.

Size is probably why Colborne still gets penciled into some line-up cards on this site.

they both will be solid players, ashton had a tough start, but since, he has been taking the body, amazing on the forecheck, his offensive game is starting to come out too

let them take their time, where is LR when we need him

Definitely.

Should be easier for prospects now as the top guys are likely with their top teams. This doesn't just apply to the Leafs prospects but all teams. Many players demoted to the ECHL should have been recalled and be getting the better coaches to work with. Devane is an example.

agreed, players getting chances, meaing now we can develop them well.as before they were not getting chances, but now they are

marlies are fighting for a playoff spot, and if we make it, that would go along for the prospects, that would be a big step if u ask me. that is missing most of their top guys

I don't think they are missing most of their top guys though.

Komarov, Frattin and Holzer were supposed to be with the Leafs, and Kadri was expected. These guys playing in the AHL would not be a good thing at all, more a disappointment.

Goaltenders? I kept hearing about how good Rynnas and Rapper were supposed to be.

Realistically speaking we are seeing the true Marlies team now, not the team iced during the lock-out.

Best assets are not in the AHL, but in junior and Europe.

Some one give Ziggy a Steak

He's fallen off the map since he turned into a Veegan looks like he's done. It's too bad the 2nd rd picks Ryan and Ross can't sieze the opportunity, they appear to be ECHL Lifers.

Carter Ashton is very close to getting a call up IMO, he is NHL ready, a sandpaper type of guy to play against. Probably needs polish, but I can see him as a better 3rd line option if Mac is deemed expendable one day. Big, strong, and crashes the net. Think he will prove to be a good acquisition for Aulie.

I agree. His production in terms of numbers isnt quite what many expected, but really think he is in the AHL to work on other parts of his game. We saw the same with Kadri and Frattin. Both are putting up better numbers at the NHL level.
I think Ashton will get some time in the NHL this year and probably be a regular before end of the season.

I like his game, he does all the right things a bottom 6-9 winger should do, he's big and he will wear down the opposition with his size, not a great figher but will drop them to prove a point, he's the type of player that sparks a team, call him a bigger Darcy Tucker, he's got game. Just needs to finish better. Think he brings an ethusiasm to the game that wakes up a sleeping team.

Joe C admitting in an article he made a mistake palying through wrist injury.

Well no **** sherlock. Quite the set back, only now (apparently) is it at 100%. And even then, its 100% healthy not strong. This guy needed last summer for strength training. He is more than 10 pounds under his goal weight for this season.

Kid is talented, but between the skating stride, lack of mass, injuries, he is sure one heck of a project. The upside is tremendous though.

Good thing we can be patient with him for a little longer .. I really want to see him do well so we can hang it over Boston's head

I don't think so, they are in a playoff spot, and have like 3 or 4 games in hand, need to find the right combo, but it seems they are starting to play well

they are both legit prospects, patience man

oh wait, ur freebird, you like to knock on leafs all the time,
This, plus not to mention that Ross is in his first pro season! The kid is 20, can we at least give him 2 full years in the AHL before making any sort of judgment on him?

Geez, it must have been bad because Eakins is a pretty even-tempered guy it seems.
