I could find 100s of post from this AHL season alone of you ranting and raving about Regier and his handling of the Amerks since Pegula took over as well as bashing his previous tenures under other owners dealing with the Amerks.

But you actually are going to assert your disdain has nothing to do with the Amerks?
I can't stand the way Regier operates the Amerks, but I'm not dumb enough to suggest he needs to be fired for his AHL body of work. And I've said repeatedly that if it came down to Ruff of Regier, Ruff has to go first.

Don't know what else I can tell you other than its not Amerks related . I'm not losing sleep if you don't buy it.

Saw this Bucky article (I am sorry! I know how much people love Bucky) and i immediately thought of this thread:

http://buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll...130219932/1104

Bucky is grinding his ax again.

He's ranting and raving about credibility in this article, yet he hides behind "journalistic integrity" by not revealing any of his sources. How can anyone be sure he didn't just make up these "sources"?

I'm not sure why players or GMs around the league would give this hack the time of day.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Bucky is asking the concession stand operators around the league...

Regardless of the article's merit, it does reiterate the question of "How bad does Pegula look now?" The way Bucky responds to the question makes me think less and less that Pegula has much culpability in this. I still believe that Pegula is passionate about bringing a cup to Buffalo and he has given R&R the resources to succeed. Extension or not, I don't believe either of their jobs are safe and that we'll see Ruff go before Darcy if this keeps up. If the Sabres continue to bomb and Ruff is still here come puck drop next season, I'll rethink Pegula's responsibilities with this team.

High-ranking people from across the league are laughing at the Sabres, just as they did last year after the season turned ugly. What people, you ask? Sorry, but their names will remain private.
It's funny when he makes things up.

They wouldn't have had to rebuild so much of the team had Gleason not chastised the organization over the complexity of one move.

Gleason uses statistics but not to prove how teams are built. The guy simply has no hope and instead of understanding how the organization works, he promotes all things cynical, denying anyone a sense of opportunity. He should look at the reality behind each season as what it is, a competition.

Then he can call himself a fan.

The article is right on.

Gas boy has to come out of hiding and explain himself concerning the bizarre Regier extension.

Right on? Not sure if serious...

I honestly don't get the Regier hate. He has made some solid deals and only one really questionable contract (Leino). Unless Darcy haters are made that he hasn't fired Ruff, I just don't get it.

Instead of being apologetic, just don't post his articles. The majority of fans don't read anything he writes. And the minority that do can easily find him elsewhere. Just simply don't post it if you think you need to apologize.

And I didn't waste my time on this offering or any other article he writes. Sadly, out of towners who don't follow Buffalo sports closely, ignorantly think his writings are the voice of buffalo fans.

I hear ya, but I thought it was relevant to the thread title, so i posted it. The "apology" was more of a, "hey, i know a lot of people dislike this guy, so bear with me." Essentially, i am arguing that if Bucky claims Pegula is culpable, than that's proof within itself that he isn't. I hear ya, but i don't think that needed to be said.

The problem is, if you keep posting his articles, you make him relevant and the coverage won't improve.

You didn't make a mistake by posting this. Don't cave in to the Kool-Aid Crowd so quickly.

The main thrust of the column is dead on...that Pegula was foolish for not cleaning house, a retention of Darcy and Lindy sends a message
through the organization that mediocrity is acceptable, and others in the pro hockey game are laughing at us.

The same was said of us last January, when we hit rock bottom. The entire league was waiting for the ax to fall, and when it didn't, people were stunned. I am thinking of people like Pierre LeBrun, Bob McKenzie, and others.

Gleason also rightly points out that Ruff has lost his voice in the locker room.

It is also correct to point out that Pegula is too much of a fan and seemingly approaches his ownership in too subjective a way. He is too emotionally involved.

I have no idea how the man ran his fracking company, but I can guarantee you he didn't approach it with emotion, sentimentality, and clouded judgment. If he had approached it that way, the business would have failed, and we wouldn't know who Terry Pegula is.

If we suck again this year, and Pegula doesn't do anything, then he can go **** himself. I love the guy and the passion he brings to this franchise but if he does nothing it's clear he doesn't know what's best for the team.

or has the wrong advisors. or both ...

Seen this a few years ago in Viennese football (soccer) with Frank Stronach. He was the rich uncle from America, and he brought millions to a Viennese club. they had way more of money than every other Austrian team at that time. And were consistently underachieving. Considering that there are no such things as cap hit in Austrian soccer, they should have won all the titles every year. Clear case of small knowledge and wrong advisors.

Could it be the same with Pegula?

The only stat I found interesting in that article was that the Sabres have missed the playoffs as much under Ruff and Regier as the rest of franchise history combined.

I know, I know, the league is larger than it was, but this is still unacceptable. Making the playoffs isn't really an achievement. It means your mediocre. That they've so frequently been less than mediocre is damning.

You're right. Which is why it bothers me when people say this team "isn't a playoff team" or isn't good enough to make the playoffs.
