This Sharks game is hilarious. Wings defense looks like six Lidstrom's are on the ice compared to them tonight.

Greiss is awful too.

So they started off 7-0, and now they've lost five straight (albeit two in OT). Niiiiiiiiiice.

Now if only the Hawks could follow suit...

St. Louis continues to spiral out of control in a downward direction.

I LOL at all the people who thought Brian Elliot was god

Hitch is a coach that has a real hard time sustaining his voice. Perfect guy to bring in when you're close. But he's not a great long-term guy. (long term being 4 to 5 years these days)

Looks like Hitchcock has run his course there.

Brian Elliot was the beneficiary of a league best defense last year. Now that the blues defense has dropped off a cliff, Elliot has looked terrible.

I think St. Louis needs to bring in a few vets to anchor the lower lines, and to show up every day and grind. I think that's a big loss for them with Langenbrunner out with the hip surgery, and it's something that I think Hitch needs to help balance the locker room. This summer, go out and sign Rob Scuderi. Someone like Dan Cleary could be a good add for them, someone who goes out and just works every game. they shouldn't do what they did ten years ago and gut their youth to bring in three big names, but I think they're lacking some vets in that locker room.

Pretty unimpressed by all four teams, CGY-MIN, COL-PHX.

Not surprising since none of those teams are playoff teams.

Phoenix was the luckiest team alive last year. (Minus the Kings of course)

Credit to a Blues poster for digging it up.

"We've got too many guys out there looking at the stat sheet wondering how many goals & assists, cookies they've got rather than taking a hit to make a play and getting run over so we can get a puck out so that your teammates can have a 3-on-2."

If what he is saying is true............ How could team could squander their potential with that kind of selfish style of play? It makes no sense.

Or they'll be even hungrier for revenge and try to get back to winning ways. It should be a good game, but knowing the Wings, they'll start off slow because of all the time off. I hope I'm wrong though.

Chris Stewart is known to have attitude problems. Taraskenko is a young rookie. It's not hard to imagine...

Looks like former Ottawa Senators and St. Louis Blues assistant manager Jarmo Kekäläinen is the new GM of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

He left the Blues two years ago to go back to Finland to build the Jokerit Helsinki team (leading now the SM-Liiga after many many mediocre years), but now he is back in NHL, at the top position. Former Blues president John Davidson (who is now Blue Jackets president) is pretty clearly behind this move.

Kekäläinen has been the "Jim Nill" for the Senators from 1999 to 2002, at 2007 they hit the Stanley Cup finals. Since 2002 to 2010, he was the "Jim Nill" for the St. Louis Blues, and what a turnaround has that organization seen.

Now he will take his career's greatest challenge. Build a winner of the ultimate loser Blue Jackets. I have no doubt that he couldn't accomplish that.

They need somewhat of a core to build on for that to happen. Mason seems to have failed miserably after such a bright start, they traded their franchise's best best player in Nash and have had terrible drafting history. A LOT of work needs to be done.

Building a winner in Columbus will be a very difficult task.

I was expecting Burke to be the next GM there. Seemed perfect for him.

They have Bobo there too. Jury still out on him. Dansk and Forsberg seem promising.

D corps isn't bad. Murray, Savard, Moore, Erixon with an outside shot of Weber, Goloubef and Reilly.

Lack star talent at forward. 3 1st rounders this year should help.

John Davidson is the president of hockey operations. He makes the final call, Burke's ego wouldn't mash up well.

Marginal player with a big enough ego to trademark his lame ass nickname and try to enforce its usage? No thanks.

Everything starts from the draft. Kekäläinen has had great succes there. He goes there like a man what Devellano was for us at 1982.

Quote from him:

"Rebuild is not an option for me. Winning organizations prefer so called "retooling" and that's the way I'm going to go. But we also have important year coming with those 3 1st round draft picks."

Imo, that's a good phase to jump in. They already have some good prospect core there (Ryan Murray, Ryan Johansen, Boone Jenner, Tim Erixon, Morgan Reilly, David Savard, Cam Atkinson etc...), and those great picks that you have secure going well. Then the other building is hiring right personnel etc. strengthen the connection to the farm team. He has a model of succesful organization, he just have to bring that in.

Senators peaked in ~8 years when he was drafting there, same is now happening for the Blues.

Yeah, just didn't know if he'd be an upgrade over anyone currently taking up space.

Heh, oops, thought it was the other way around and Zach was the one trademarked. Never mind.
