Swill Merchant. Nothing more than the ravings of a madman with a microphone.

Clock is right. ***** all you want but Terry is still light years better than what we were used to before him.

at this point in time I woud very, very strongly disagree that Pegula is "light years" better than Golisano as an owner.

Agreed. It's silly and quite shortsighted to put Terry on the same level as previous ownership. We're unquestionably far better off right now as far as the owner is concerned. Anyone who disagrees does so simply because he hasn't yet fired Ruff, as if it was his job to do so.

Am I reading this right?

You'd rather have "bottom line" BTG and Larry Quinn back?

Disagree. From an owners stand point.

If you say that the team isn't "light years" better than when Golisano was the owner, I'd agree.

Annoyingly enough, I've found by reading through opposing teams' GDTs now and then that other fanbases have been posting links to Bucky's articles about our ownership and taking them to heart. It's frustrating that he's viewed as a voice of authority on our team by outsiders.

1. He has a ton of money.
2. He's a huge fan of the team.
3. He wants to make Buffalo a hockey destination.
4. He wants to win Cups.

These complaints about him are simply from unreasonable fans who think that, for lack of a better phrase, Rome was built in a day.

Interesting. If he wants to win trophies, and as a fan that must be true, then he isnt gonna do it with Ruff in charge IMO.

Probably not.

He did what most decent owners do though.

He bought a company, and decided to evaluate the competency of the employees he had under HIS ownership. Unfortunately many sports fans don't seem to understand this concept.

Yeah, and if he is putting money in then he reserves that right to see what happens. This will be an interesting time to judge him by then I guess.

That clearly explains this 7 page thread full of complaints about how Pegula hasn't yet fired Person X or Person Y.

The disconnect is that a segment of the fanbase believes that there has been a long enough time to make a decision and it would appear that Pegula disagrees on that point.

Or he's seen enough to want more of what he's gotten....

Who knows

I disagree, as professional sports and sports franchises are not like other companies or businesses in terms of the product standpoint. Strangely enough, in the real business world, if you're not producing enough in nearly two years, you'll likely be removed.

Turning around a sports franchise in 24 months is almost unheard of. Turning around a 'normal' business in that same amount of time is much more common.

These same people that are crapping all over Pegula now will be first in line at the victory parade if/when the Sabres win a cup. These arguments are just stupid.

Seen this a few years ago in Viennese football (soccer) with Frank Stronach. He was the rich uncle from America, and he brought millions to a Viennese club. they had way more of money than every other Austrian team at that time. And were consistently underachieving. Considering that there are no such things as cap hit in Austrian soccer, they should have won all the titles every year. Clear case of small knowledge and wrong advisors.

Could it be the same with Pegula?

This is interesting. Why do you need advisors to "tell" you something that you should know just by looking at the product on the ice each night for almost the last two years? Does he not have a personal pulse on the team from the way they play, from when he interacts with the management, coaches, and players? It isn't like Pegula doesn't understand the game and isn't a lifelong hockey fan. To me, this the biggest concern I have with Pegula.

It never bodes well when fans turn on each other. The whole feel of the organisation, the way we play, the way we feel as fans at the moment is all so depressing. Even when we win I can't get too excited as you know it's gonna be followed more then likely by a defeat. I think if Pegula does want to win trophies and make Buffalo a hockey centre it is time for change. I hope he sees this sooner rather then later.

It's just unbelievable that people want to make excuses for anyone in this organization (Ruff, Regier, Pegula) when things clearly are not working and going in the wrong direction.

If Pegula had all of his money but had no connection to Buffalo or wasn't a fan growing up, people would be all over him right now.

The reality is he's the owner and the buck stops with him.

Yeah.. I'm going to give him more than a year and a half to make something happen here.

As for Ruff and Regier, fire them, IDC. If Pegula does nothing after this pathetic year, then I will begin to bash him as well.
