Shark fans are so predictable and silly in being it.

Shark fans: we need depth, depth.

Wilson: trades for depth.

Shark fans: what he is a waste of space if he can't fill in on the top lines.

If he could even hold a stable 4th line position he'll be worth more than a 3rd round pick. We tend to overrate draft picks a little too much, especially late ones. The only notable 3rd round picks the Sharks had in their league history are Thomas Greiss and Ville Peltonen back in 93.

The Sharks have a horrible history with the 3rd rounder, and no current promising 3rd rounders. I have no clue why.

Two-way contract means they paid less when they're in the AHL right? As I am too lazy to click the link, anything about what the minor league contracts are?
What game?

I'm looking for Shep to make amends for his career up to now. I feel that the Sharks treated this situation well. It's up to him and if he values the opportunity, I think this could turn out well.

Why does he have to make amends? He was poorly developed on a crap team and then he suffered a terrible injury. He doesn't need to make amends, he just needs to play hard.

We are in sheppards signing thread right? Sheppard was aqquired via trade. And he definately at the time and currently was picked up for offensive depth.

Yep, I agree. And for those that think that it is over payment, more than likely the Sharks would not even use the extra couple hundred thousand they saved by signing him the the minimum, and it is only a 1-year deal.

Take this for what it's worth, but I went to school with James and saw him briefly this summer. He said he was healthy and he looked it. Anyone that questions his work ethic doesn't know him. He's been a workout junky since grade school. I'm a firm believer that Minnesota screwed up his development. I see no reason why he couldn't salvage a career as a good two way third liner.

He's a first class guy so I hope he does well for the Sharks.

Pretty much any professional athlete is a workout junkie to an average Joe.

Shepp has looked good and played like a vet. 2nd line minutes so soon? whodathunk

Fast becoming a favorite of mine, works hard, smooth, good 2way attitude.

He keeps this up I see DW giving him a 2/3 yr deal this summer.

I think he has looks good the last few games. Maybe it is just taking a while to get comfortable play in the NHL again. But I would really like to see him put up some goals/points before completely jumping on the bandwagon.

Well at the moment no one is scoring, but Shep has shown a lot of work ethic and has created tons of chances. He plays twice his size and I think he's gonna be great for the third line.

Me too but I also thought it didn't make sense to sign him to another 1-year. He's young so if he's worth anything he needs to be signed to multi-years.
