It is very close. In fact by this weekend the list could be completely flopped and Montreal could be on another hot streak.
Could be the worst comparison I've ever heard. That team had been to the playoffs the year before and took the 1 seed to a game seven. Julien had been the coach for a few seasons already and they were loaded with much more talent than Toronto currently has. They also finished with 116 points.

Buffalo (In theory, they're solid but "in theory" is the same as "in practice"... in theory)
Leafs (Outside of Kessel/Lupul, who is still relatively unproven, they're either too bad or too green)

24 delusional Habs fans voted. With Spezza out for a few months it's really a toss up between the Leafs and Sens.

Should bounce around between Toronto, Ottawa and Buffalo.

As far as standings, Boston is definitely the best and Montreal the worst though.

1. Boston

2. Ottawa (w-out Spezza)
3. Toronto
4. Montreal
5. Buffalo

All 4 are pretty close for me. Buffalo is off to a bad start, but I expect Miller to rebound.

This is awful. The Leafs have been a little lucky with shooting percentage and have received Lundqvist/Luongo/Rinne quality goaltending so far this year. Unless you truly believe Reimer is a top-3 goalie in the NHL, the Leafs WILL falter. It's not difficult to understand that their goaltending is over performing. It happens over small sample sizes; that's why the NHL shutout streak is held by Brian Boucher and not Hasek/Roy, and it's why Giguere/Roloson/anyone can get "hot" in the playoffs and lead their team deep.

Buffalo is more or less the team it's going to be for the rest of the season. Sorry, Sabres fans.

Montreal's a solid team who should make the playoffs. Their weaknesses last season were vastly overstated and they got terrible luck. This season looks good for them.

Ottawa's gotten a bit of luck to start, but are regardless a dominant puck possession team that is probably the second-best team after Boston, even without Spezza.

Toronto has been very lucky to start. They are not a good team and have a long way to fall.
This. Thanks for saving me the time, good quick analysis.

I don't like Montreal quite as much going forward but we'll see.
