I'd trade TT+ for the Jackets' highest pick, no brainer.

Doubt the Jackets will do it. With the potential 3rd pick, that means Jones and McKinnon are out but this years draft class projects to be particularly strong.

I rather go back to into the draft taking a future rather than having Teravainen as a 3rd line RW.
By the time TT is in his prime Hossa is retired. TT is probably 2 years away from the NHL and another 2 from his prime. It's not like we're trading for an NHL ready RW.

CBJ has their own and the Kings first round picks. Currently that slots them at T4-7, both in the lottery.

Outside of Jones and McKinnon who will go 1,2 Im sure Kekalainen will want to draft Aleksander Barkov if hes available. Kid is a monster and I believe bested Teravainen and Jokerit in their head to head. If he has a chance to get Teravainen as well, I sure he'll seriously entertain offers. Something for Stan to consider.

... you're suggesting that we trade Teravainen, someone almost universally considered a draft steal for the fact that we landed him in the middle of the first round, for another likely middle to late first round pick in the hopes that lightning strikes twice?

We got very lucky landing him where we did, and in a couple years he'll be a great Hawk. Let's not toss that aside hoping we can somehow upgrade that with who knows who'll be left at that point in this years' draft.

Well duh, as that'd mean we'd likely be able to land either Jones, MacKinnon, Barkov, Drouin, or Lindholm.... but nobody's offering us that trade.

But, to get back to the Jackets, they made it official and hired Jarmo Kekalainen to be their next GM. Also the first Euro GM in the NHL, too.

It would be a lotto pick that Im proposing. Not another mid-round pick and it would also be contingent on whos avaliable as a lotto pick so it would be a draft day trade.

Even with that in mind, if the Kings/BJs end up losing the lottery and having a higher pick, there'd be no point in making that trade on our end. If they end up getting a really good pick out of the Kings trade, then there'd be no reason for them to make that trade as they'll be able to likely land an even more attractive prospect.

Not to mention that Columbus' new GM is very well regarded as a scout, so even if he likely holds Teravainen in high regards, he knows this current draft class like the back of his hand and wouldn't feel the need to try to go after him unless he's already convinced that Teravainen will be better than anything he can pick up with his second pick (a sure fire sign that it's not wise of a trade for us to make).

Just doesn't make much sense.

Yup, because you left out the fact that he has Selke like defense.

Then why not just keep Dave Bolland? If you sign O'Reily for $5+ mil, you have to trade Bolland or Hjalmersson next year.

you know that every team that won't make the POs will have a lottery pick and you could end up with #10 overall?

Stupid idea just because their new GM knows Teuvo

IF we already knew the pick was top 3 and he loved TT that much. It's not likely but it is possible. If it presented itself, I'd like to pick a top 3 guy in this draft instead and I like TT but let's be real.

Teuvo is a top 10 pick. We're lucky the dead puck year of not calling interference led to success for trap teams which overrated the value of Dmen for the draft. When 9 Dmen are picked before the 18th pick that's a keeper. Gambling that we'll get a better pick via Columbus isn't worth it, even if we did land a forward at #3 overall the kid might be more redundant than helpful. Look at Edmonton. They have a fantastically skilled top 6 of guys who don't have the range of chemistry to win in different situations.

I might be hated for this, but, I believe RoR is better offensively, and probably defensively and is quite a bit younger. Bolland is a beast in the playoffs, but the upside is better with RoR than Bolland in almost every aspect of the game.
That's my opinion anyway.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: NJD trade 2013 7th round pick and 2014 4th round pick to WPG for Ponikarovsky.

Karlsson probably out for the year, Achilles Tendon related, he'll need surgery.

Cooke's skate was in the air. Was it accidental or intentional. Hard to tell but why was Cooke's skate up in the air. Cooke was known to be a dirty player and he seemed to turn his game around. The league needs to review the video as it looks more intentional than it does accidental. The Sens have two of their top stars injured and out for long term.
