Up until 2am last night re-living my hockey game. Just awful. I played okay, my line played okay, but like the Wild, we barely get a goal per game even though we're getting 10-15 shots and lots of chances. But we work the puck down low, get a nice cycle going, and then the defenseman loses the puck at the blue line. Like 90% of the time.

Rage destroyed my helmet after that ****show of a game.

2-12-1 on this garbage season.

Doesn't help I'm continuing my own personal decline. I had 21 goals and 28 points last year in 20 games, this year I've got 3 goals and 8 points in 14. Last year I scored on 18.6% of my shots, this year 3.8%. Just awful.

Anyone have any suggestions for a headset that costs less than 50 bucks and wont fall apart like a cheap piece of substandard garbage anytime soon? That's the most important part. I don't want it to wear out in weeks or even months. I want one that will last me a couple years.

Headset meaning one that includes a mic? Most good headsets are 150-200...

Being in your mid twenties with a serious job, kid, etc. sucks when you have a broken arm.

Still pissed. Although the meds are good.

I tried 2 and was underwhelmed by the level of play. I'm not superstar so that should tell you something.

How much longer do you have until you're back to normal?

As in no cast? Like a month...

Just noticed I put I'm in my mid twenties. Seeing as I'll be 28 in a few weeks that's probably not the case...

You play AHA or JMS at all? It's almost half the price of AHA with one fewer game and run time periods. Could be interesting.

Yikes. Hopefully that month goes by fast.

I'm staring down the barrell of 30 later this year. Won't be long until I can't even say I'm in my twenties!

I'm 30 in July. So weird.

Would like to lose 30 by 30. Well...come close. Just lose 30 in general. We'll see how that works. Cleaned up my diet quite a bit and now have mostly given up alcohol. Better see some damn results soon.

Hey Jarick and other people who still play and might have an idea, what are some good recommended mouth guards?

I've stuck with the $10 shock doctor for the last few years and i love them, its just that i cannot talk with them in at all.

The clear ones NHL players seem to use look good, and a quick look at the Rink says that they make lower-jaw mouthguards now that make talking easier. I just didnt see any actual recommendations.

So, any help?

I'd stick with shock doctor but, perhaps, upgrade to a better model.

I usually play just pick up games, but make no mistake there are some very skilled players. Other than that I play a league in Stillwater in the spring but there is a wide variety of skill in that league. There are 2 teams that are solid D1-D2 players, which makes the games a lot less fun. I looked at playing AHA but couldn't justify playing $500 or whatever it is. As far as the skill level for me personally, I think I was placed at level 2-3 in the AHA, but that was a few years ago.

Do you wear a visor or a cage?

I'm a cage guy and for years I wore a Shock Doctor Gravity. Goes on the lower teeth, makes it easier to talk and breathe.

This year I just took it out completely and usually have a stick of gum. There's no risk in taking a puck or stick up high, I don't think they make a difference for concussions, and it's no-check hockey so I only get hit a couple times a year.

For visors, getting custom guards from your dentist is usually the way to go. A lot of pros use UA but they are expensive...most dentists can make them for $50 give or take.

I play AHA in winter, have for six years now. It's up and down. This year too many ringers at our level. Last year had great parity.

But for summer league, I'm just thinking...$280 for 12 AHA games vs $160 for 11 HF games...

I was talking for my club lacrosse team and possibly some pickup games. So I guess full cage?

We go by NCAA regulations and I know NCAA hockey allows the lower-teeth mouth guard but I'm not sure if NCAA lacrosse is the same way. I'll look into the Shock Doctor Gravity though. That looks great.
