i tried to sound as outlandish as i could without having to put the emoticon. but i just realized that outbursts like that were common on the habs board.

hehe,
it was a knock against the people posting that the teams beneath are getting 'better' and the habs won't make the playoffs because the opposition have made great signings like hal gill, tom poti, johan hedberg, marc savard.

This is the greatest day for the Habs org. but mostly for myself!!!!

Knew Gainey wasn't that dumb! But it seems Smith is though, maybe he just want to keep the tradition alive in NY....

So can we put that ridiculous rumor to bed? Its bad enough Ribeiro is around for 1 more season at an inflated price, + Bouillons similar contract... on top of that we were allegedly making a pitch for Tom freakin' Poti?? That would have been the last straw for me.

What do you mean ridiculous? you are now concluding that the only team interested in Poti was the islanders?

I might have taken a year off myself, or at least closed my eyes during his shifts. Thank the lord for Neil Smith!

No - what he's saying is it was a ridiculous rumour of him going to Montreal with seven returning defencemen. I happen to lean that way myself. Poti is not an upgrade on our top four, or IMO top six.
