Good chance it will be an early 7th in what is supposed to be a deep draft. Total coup for Shero.

I'm sticking with what I've been saying a while...I fully expect Tangradi to be a late bloomer and come out of nowhere as a 27/28 year-old and become a 20/20-type tweener...but that wasn't going to happen here, and not for a while.

Best of luck in Winnipeg for him, but he's just not good enough for us at this point in time.

At the end of the day a 7th rounder is better than nothing, and considering we'd have to waive someone to get to the roster limit I'll take it. Without the immediate waiver risk he may have fetched a 5th...but, eh. Whatever. 7th rounder > nothing

Agreed. Very nice post. I think it's 50/50 here. Both parts failed one another.

Lovejoy with more value then Tangradi, would have never expected that

Best of luck to him in Winnipeg, won't be very long until we see him in uniform against us!

The problem was.. he wasn't going to do it here no matter who the coach was. He needs to develop on a team that is in the dumps who will give him a shot to succeed and has plenty of time to do it.

As SS said - both are to blame. I still think it's better than letting him his waivers. A pick is a pick in the NHL draft. Talent can be ubiquitous, but development is needed.

I would have guessed he would have been part of a package deal. Oh well, at least they got something for him.

I say this with no ire whatsoever: What do you see that makes you feel that way? His size? It can't be his skating or his hands.

This guy's career will follow a similar path to Luca Caputi.

The only real winner out of this deal in my opinion is Tangradi himself. He'll definitely have a better shot at cracking the Jets lineup, and maybe they can do a better job of developing him than we did. I still don't think he'll come anywhere near being the type of player we all hoped he would be, but I do however think he has enough talent to become a full time NHLer.

That being said, I would've preferred that we at least tried to package him in an attempt to grab a top 6 winger. As much as we overrated him, I still think he could've been worth a bit more than a 7th rounder.

I'm certainly in the group that wanted it to work out for him and felt like he wasn't getting a fair shot. Well, I can't say he didn't get a shot.

Sure hope it works out for him in Winnipeg.

Good luck ET!

Agreed entirely.

Tangradi is the type of player who needs to play his way up through the line-up and be allowed to grow through his shortcomings. Regardless of who's coaching this team it's hard to have a legitimate Cup contender that's willing to stick with a guy who's just not playing NHL caliber hockey for extended periods of time.

This trade was the best thing that could have happened to the guy. Winnipeg can afford to look at this potential instead of his results for the time being.

We're no more guilty of this than most other fans in the league. You should hear the way Habs fans pipe their prospects.

his skating is fine...

little bit bad hands. I don't know how he'll grow as a player, but I know he has the tools to continue to improve past where he is at the age of 24.

He may have never had hte benefit of playing a full season, but it's not like he really seized the opportunity in the limited time he was given. He rarely put forth a shift that was really inspiring or in indicative in the slightest that he was ready to crack the top 6. I also don't feel he's adjusted his game to play a bottom 6 role either.

Strait was lost because of a numbers game and an unusual lockout environment that meant no pre-season trading, Sneep was a bust (who never really was super-hype around here to begin with), Lovejoy was never hyped, and Tangradi...yeah. I think we were all blinded by his size and the words power forward.
