Favorite part about Tangradi is when he went from like a 7.0 C to an 8.5 B once we traded him. Surefire top liner the second he moves to Pittsburgh. And now a surefire bust.

That was kind of comical. He was a nothing prospect for the Ducks to a high end prospect as soon as he was traded away from us. I remember everyone laughing about the obvious bias against Ducks prospects.

It's interesting because Tangradi was always considered better than Beleskey, even though they had similar stats in juniors. But one had the pedigree and did it (I believe) a year younger.

Really? I for one am sick and tired of dumpster diving and reclamation projects. We've had enough of those. Time to put some of our prospects through paces of an NHL games.

ya. but we don't really have an NHL ready prospect for the twins. so it wouldn't have hurt to put tangradi up there to see what happens.

this was also before I knew Maroon and Holland were recalled

Yeah, just hard to watch.

It'll be interesting to see what Ottawa does now that their two best players are out long term. They might sell off or be aggressive and go after O'Reilly. McKenzie said the Senators are his pick to get him. They'd sure be an awfully dangerous team when Spezza comes back with him, O'Reilly and Turris at C. Should be interesting.

Didn't like seeing Karlsson suffering like that. Poor guy. I don't think it was done intentionally. McLean's comments were irresponsible IMO.

Heh, I'm starting to see some "Fire Holland" avatars on the main boards. 13 games into the post-Lidstrom era and the bandwagon is already bleeding.

Sucks to see that happen to Karlsson, but man Sens fans are all kinds of mad. Saying it was unintentional but still worthy of a full season's suspension. Cooke didn't Bertuzzi Karlsson.

That sucks about Karlsson. The few games I've seen with him, he was pretty fun to watch. I hope he's able to come back and not be permanently effected by the injury.

I've heard some bad stories about injuries like this. Some players are never quite the same after. Hoping this never happens to one of our guys.

Yeah, it reminds me of Caddyshack when Bill Murray suggests Chevy Chase should cut Judge Smails' Achilles tendon, and says, "What you've got to do is cut the hamstring on the back of his leg right at the bottom. He'll never play golf again, because his weight displacement goes back, all his weight is on his right foot, and he'll push everything off to the right. He'll never come through on anything. He'll quit the game."

I don't like watching injuries. It's funny, I love fake gore but I can't stand the real stuff.

Anyways, I don't want to watch the video, but can anyone describe how Karlsson gets cut and how come the skate back didn't prevent it?

Is this the kind of thing where maybe a different type of skate might help protect the Achilles? Or would that just take away ankle flexibility?

Achilles tendons really suck. Amazing as it is, Selanne still never was quite as fast as before.

I hate injury videos too, but this one is safe as long as you quit watching before he tries to get off the ice (and even then it's not too bad) no blood, no flopping leg. Cooke comes up behind him and raises his left leg to try to get his foot between his legs to pin him to the boards but instead the skate comes down along the back of the calf. Didn't even look like all that hard a strike.

Thanks for the description. OK so it got cut up high. That makes more sense.

Still not going to watch it, no matter what you say.

Once I accidentally clicked on part of the Malakov video. Still shudder when I think of it.

edit: I meant Malarchuk.

Who knew a Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield movie could provide such keen medical insight?

So glad we traded Visnovsky to the Isles. That pick is going to be top 5 in the second round

My face when Christ Kreider is back in the AHL and Kyle Palmieri is bouncing back between the two top lines on one of the top teams in the league right now.

I still remember the Rangers' fans crying when Palmieri and King Kreider played on the same line in the WJC.

Karlsson is officially out for the season. They said it was a clean cut, and that he'll probably recover 100%. So bad news for the short term, good news for the long term.
