With the #131 pick, the Wild select Nick Seeler

No one else was making it

Another Minnesotan. Hit a growth spurt last year. May continue to grow. First d-man selected out of the 1st round in the Chuck Fletcher era. Will play 1 season of USHL before heading to the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Scouting report
Quote:
Two-way mobile defenseman…skates real well with good transitions and pivots…just average sized but will play anyway you want…quick transitions offensively…sound one-one-one defensively…can get a little nasty when things get physical…gets his stick and body in lanes effectively…shows smarts and some good natural instincts from the backend.

Why.. WHY!? Max Friberg is going to be such a steal in this draft and primed and ready for a 5th round pick for the Wild. Then they take another damn defenseman.. What's with Fletch and his crew grabbing all these high schoolers? Seriously..

Seeler is the 3rd d-man the Wild have drafted in 3 drafts under Chuck Fletcher. In that same time-frame, we've selected 13 forwards.

It's not how many they have chosen. It's how many they have in the system and one the team. yes they've taken a lot of forwards but with next year being such a huge strong defensive draft pool I don't understand why now they have to take all these defenseman.

We did add Phillips, Coyle and Graovac in one draft.

Watched a fair amount of Eden Prairie last season. Seeler is an interesting prospect. There's a lot of tools there to work with in my opinion. This kid could be an interesting developmental project with some upside to him. Couldn't be headed to play under a better coach either.

This guy is one to keep an eye on, in my opinion.

I caught part of the UND-UNO series this past weekend. It looked to me that Nick Seeler had been moved to forward for part of the game. He had a couple of really rough sequences, but it was not much of a viewing opportunity obviously. Also, he's the PIM leader for his team so far.

Bouchard wishes he had the street cred of Seeler's headbutt. So it'll probably happen.

No one ****s with Pierre-Marc Bouchard.

I like Seeler and Draeger as sleeper prospects for the Wild.

I like Fletcher and Co's. strategy of selecting kids going to college in the later rounds and using that as a way to develop them.
