Speculating Rick Dipietro!

Value of... Wouldn't do it justice! My question is simple. What would you have to trade to dump the the guy with the most hideous contract in professional sports?

Tavares?
Strome?
De Haan?
Hamonic?
Okposo?

Or...

How many years of first round picks?

For a very large chunk of change. Sure, he can be bought out.

Wang has bought out Yashin, Witt and Bates. Yashin had more $ left on his contract.

DiPietro's $1.5m buyout is very doable.

Staples and Botta continue to say, Wang has no interest in buying out RD. No idea whether that's because of their personal, off ice friendship or if the Isles have been hoping he'd retire.

Wang reportedly thought highly of Yashin, thought he was intelligent and a gentleman.
I don't know if Yashin played tennis with Wang like DiPietro, if Yashin had that away from the rink friendship.

I think the only reason they wouldn't buy him out is that he's one more concussion from being done and has the hips of a 75 year old so retirement could be sooner rather than later. Maybe he works out a deal and gives him a job at the hot dog stand when he retires

If the Isles ever gave away a really good player to get rid of DP I think I would cease to be an Islander fan

Why would they buy him out?
Why would they trade him?

This is the Islanders. They just traded for Thomas' contract.

They have a cap hit of 2.2 to Yashin, 5 to Thomas and 4.5 Dipietro and they just reached the floor. Why pay extra cash on a buy out to Dipietro just to reach floor going forward?

Although I agree Wang won't buyout RD, the Isles cap BEFORE the Thomas trade was $48/$49m. After the Thomas trade it's at $53m/$54m.

This season's floor is $44m.

Adding Thomas cap hit has nothing to do with DiPietro. Imo it was added, in case the isles move their impending ufas Streit+ Vis, who have a combined caphit of $9.7m and who would both draw interest at the trade deadline.
