Loooool, Cowen is one of the fastest 6'5 defenders you'll come across. I've heard many things but slow was never one of them.

I think so too. Every time I see him play he looks really good and sens seem to like players like Domi. Just his attitude, talent and demeanor from what I've read in some scouting reports.

Although I do like a lot of player their too, I could see him fall based on his size tbh.

Here is a good video interview with Domi

http://www.thehockeynews.com/article...edemption.html

In it are some highlights of his play. For a somewhat smaller player he is very solid on his skates and is able to win puck battles along the boards against bigger players. He also plays a bit of physical game which is a nice ting to see with skilled players. I read an interview previously where Tie Domi compared him to Mark Messier, if Max Domi ends up being a Mark Messier-lite that would be huge for whatever team drafts him.

One of the fastest 6'5? More like one of the fastest defenders period. That size, that speed, and that willingness to play physical is scary.

If you compare other D-men with Erik Karlsson, of course most will "look" slow... We're talking about a top-3 hockey skater in the whole league, maybe world.

I'm sorry but our defense overall isn't slow at all. And lol at Cowen is kinda slow...

The players' speed perception on these boards is probably the less objective thing that ever existed on this planet.

IMO, Karlsson is ultra fast, Cowen and Wiercioch are fast, Lundin is above average, Methot too, Phillips is (now) average and Gonchar is a tad below average but he plays an "energy saving game now", more of a positional/cerebral game (but it's something that is overlooked by most hockey fans), he is still a very smooth skater (was one of the smoothest skater in his prime).

Overall, our team is very fast, one of the fastest out there.

Cowen has a very solid speed overall, but his first few steps are what make some people think he might be slow. Like most 230+ players, none are really that fast off the mark.

With the 1st pick in the 2013 NHL entry draft, the Ottawa Senators are proud to select from the Portland Winterhawks, Seth Jones!

Bravo. Feel better about yourself now?

His lateral mobility and his ability to turn are slow. Not saying he is never going to improve but if there is one thing that needs to be improved it's his mobility and foot speed.

Anderson will prevent us from having a great draft pick.

Think 5-10, not 1-5.

Merely an overreaction on my part. Anderson is at this point the Vezina winner. He screwed us out of Lando, now he will screw us out of a top 5 pick as well.

I don't know about that both Karlsson & Ceci are also right shots like Seth. The Sens will eventually have to start thinking about replacing Spezza so Mackinnon could be the way they go with a skilled centre.

They should give Bishop some more games and also bring Lehner up for some. Anderson is great but we are terrible without Spezza and Karlsson.

If we get a top 5 pick we should go for Drouin, guy oozes potential

Not saying we should or shouldn't take Jones, but if we feel Jones is the BP, you don't pass on him. And you especially don't pass on him because we have more depth on the right side.

Don't like taking a d-man that high.

Plus, Spezza isn't getting any younger. Need centre depth.

Agreed but Mackinnon is quite the talent too although he is hurt too now.

I don't think I'd take him over Barkov, if given the opportunity. If Lindholm and Drouin are available, it's still a toss up.

Picking in the 5-10 spot, I like Sean Monahan. If he improves his skating, he's an solid 2-way threat.

It's pretty close to me, but if you have a chance at getting a #1 centreman you do it. Slight edge to Mackinnon for me too.

Looks like the Sens might drop into the Nikita Zadorov, Darnell Nurse territory.

With the injury to Karlsson, I have to wonder that if the team's chance at the playoffs becomes bleak who they will consider trading at the deadline.

Honestly, guys. If we could somehow pick up Lindholm. It would be the absolute perfect replacement for Alfredsson. I just pray that Anderson doesn't keep us floating at that 9th-10th spot.

Only way I see any good coming out of this horrific tragedy with our love Erik.

I thought Silfverberg was suppose to be Alfredsson's replacement? Since we need scoring should we bring back Filatov?

I still don't think we'll be terrible this year. Anderson is good enough to keep us in most games. I think we'll end up like 6th-12th.
