In what universe do the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple leafs make a trade with each other?

it happens, Bos-Torx2, MTL-Tor, all though extremely unlikely it does happen. But my gut feeling is if Getzlaf isn't signed before trade deadline then The Leafs will wait and make a big push for him on July 1st, the Rangers can't get them all!!! Right???? I hope lol

Toronto and Montreal did.

Weirder things have happened.

Spezza, Kadri, Bozak

Would be a solid 1, 2, 3

One can dream:

Lupul-Spezza-Kessel
JvR-Kadri-Perry
Kulemin-Bozak-Frattin
Komarov-Mcclement-McClaren/Brown

I'd love nothing more to ship Alfie to a team like Vancouver at the deadline to try and get him a cup before he retires. He's probably not worth a 1st at his age, I think a 2nd round pick would be much more fair.

Gonchar is still a servicable defenseman with a Stanley Cup ring; he could return a 2nd round pick to a team lacking a top 4 defenseman that can play the PP.

Other than that, not much else to sell. There's no reason to blow up the team, if Spezza and Karlsson aren't injured we are a playoff team. Big changes aren't needed, we just need our guys to get healthy and we'll take a run at the playoffs next year.

EDM will keep Whitney and when he comes back to form they will trade him while he is at a high and not just give him away.

With Ottawa's defense that wasn't too deep to begin with, already decimated by injuries (Cowen & Karlsson out for the season) do you think it'd be a good idea for them to make a move for Whitney?

Thoughts?
Would you place an elastic band over a shotgun wound to the chest? I personally wouldn't. Let the season die and start hoping Gonchar brings in some assets.

Thats a conservative estimation given the amount of teams in the race come trade deadline and lack of healthy defenceman. It may not be a first but still more than a 2nd

In particular:

Alfie, UFA, has to decide if he wants a trade to try to win the cup
Gonchar, UFA at end of the season
Lundin, UFA
Regin, UFA
Latendresse, UFA
Benoit UFA
Bishop, RFA

Anderson is unlikely to be traded.

This is not a fire sale, at cheap prices, but these players are available for picks, prospects, and/or young players.
I dont see you getting much for any of these players except Alfie and thats only if he wants to be rented.

Gonchar is not the same defense man he was even 3 years ago , so I dont know. Maybe a team sprouts a 2nd rounder to rent him.

Karlsson is injured, not dead. We're not trading Anderson or Spezza.

If Alfredsson wants to leave, we'll take whatever the team he wants to play for will give us.

I think you must be giving Whitney to the Sens for free as a condolence present , and even then it might be considered a sad joke as a replacement they wouldnt find funny.

To the Pens: Daniel Alfredsson.

To the Sens: Olli Maatta.

Alfie will never leave the Sens, he's said it many times.

He may ever resign for next year for all we know.

Ya know there really is hockey gods, I think Ottawa used up all their hockey god credits up last year since they were supposed to be a clear cut non play off team, well i guess the hockey gods have called in their debt.

****ing delusional. UFAs are posted in the OP, that's what we'd be looking to move this season. We're not trading Spezza, especially to the Leafs. Don't give me that "uhh it's internetz trading forums, we can post whatever" cause you're derailing a legitimate thread.

That would suffice. That being said with Alfredsson, if he wanted a trade, he would choose the location and we would make it work.

So u add Spezza and Perry and trade no one. Sounds legit.

Also, Alfie is not getting traded. Neither is Spezza.

Montreal has Weber available and who is a RFA at seasons end. I think they would be interested in him as he is young and is a puck mover. Has put up okay numbers in Montreal "when" he actually gets to play.

There were rumors supposedly that Montreal was in talks with Ottawa and Carolina for Weber. Whether it was true or not is a different story.

It wouldn't cost much to get him and he has a cannon shot from the point. Good for the PP, if paired with a steady defensive guy, I think he could turn out good in Ottawa.

Vancouver would probably be a great fit. Canadian, out of conference, several Swedes on our team as well...
