This is absolute BS. Cooke purposefully ended the career of Savard, and this deliberate kick could have the same effect for the best young D-man in the leaque. If the NHL does not suspend Cooke indefinately, they will not get another penny of mine.

I'm done with watching this BS.

As much as I'm pissed about that little satan Cooke, I'm really worried about the effects of this injury long-term for Karlsson. What are the past effects on skating from this type of injury before? Didn't Markov have the same one? He looks fine right now. Anybody? :'(

Finally look at the tape...they start coming back off the boards, and instead of Cooke putting his leg on the ice, his knee flexes and changes direction...this is a concious decision to stomp down on EK's leg.

Watch for the little hitch in his knee.

I don't hate the Pens.

But I think the sanctimonious Pens fans calling us "idiots" for being mad are ****ing hypocrites based on what they've said about Subban and Steckel.

Oiler fan here.

I think it was intentional. He stomps down quick once he feels the leg on his skate. While I don't believe he intended the severity of the injury, I think there was intent there to do some harm.

Neil shouldn't even ask, just drop the mitts and feed him what he has coming. Like McCarty and Claude Lemieux back in the day.

He should be fine. Kevin Bieksa had his Achilles sliced twice (may have been on different ankles) and I'd say he's a better skater now than when it happened.

It'll take a while for him to get back up to speed, though.

Compared to this crap the leafs are a non factor.

I vote penguins as our new #1 most hated team.

What you guys think?
You are also forgetting these two plays from the past few years:

Is what I'm hearing true? The Ottawa Senators & Sergei Gonchar purposely shot a puck at Matt Cooke's head before the Karlsson injury. If True? I take back back my earlier apology.

As a league, you cannot afford to let things like this go.
But with the nhl i wouldn't be surprised.

He has one hell of an accurate shot then. Explains why he made that sick shot right after that hit the mesh.

Crosby and Malkin better keep their heads up from now on,.

I don't think Cooke intended to hurt Karlsson, but it was definitely a reckless play. Why the hell is stomping around players that are in a vulnerable position?

From what I remember, it was during the first period, and the puck was rolling on Gonchar. Even the TSN commenters picked up on it.

Canes fan here... I have hated the Pens since Brooks Orpik broke Erik Cole's neck. A few years later he delivered a huge open ice hit to Skinner right after he came back from a concussion. I seem to also recall an injury to another Canes player via Armstrong.... seems to be a pattern here...

Oh and its safe to say I hate the Penguins... speedy recovery to EK.. I have loved watching him play this season

TOTAL COVER UP BY THE NHL.

Watch the clip- Cooke does try to pin EK, and they settle against the boards. Yes it's all in one motion, but there is a little hitch there in Cooke's knee- his balance has settled, and instead of putting his skate on the ice for balance, he stomps down on EK.

The NHL is worried this story will go viral, and they shut it down right away.

Shame on the NHL for not doing what is right here.

Brutal.
The lack of body movement by cook after hitting his ankle clearly indicates that he did not have to balance himself by putting his foot in an unnatural position on the ice where E's foot was. This is BS.
