A knee injury is different than an Achilles injury.

Guys don't have the same power generation from that leg after the injury.

I support the Sens 100%, but I am a realist and see little point in deluding myself.

With a healthy Cowen, Spezza, and Karlsson the team had a decent chance of making the playoffs in the 7- 8th spot, if Michalek, Alfie, Silf and Latendresse had good years.

Without those three it just isn't plausible IMO.

For example, without Spezza the team is 1 game under .500 and hasn't played the top teams in the conference. This was with EK in the line up playing 30 minutes a game and Andy/Bishop playing lights out.

While I would love to see this team prove me wrong, logic says it just isn't going to happen for them this year.

Please don't generalize, you have no idea the extent of EKs injury or what the professional opinion is regarding his opportunity for complete recovery.

Fully appreciate how you feel, I am kind of wishing the lockout hadn't ended at this point.

At first I though it was unintentional, but after watching the replay a few times, there's no way his leg would swing out that far without it being done purposefully.

Okay fine.

I have seen zero evidence (and have zero faith) that people with the type of explosiveness and speed that Karlsson has can fully recover from Achilles injuries in such a way to not lose flexibility, range of motion and/or power generation in that leg.

Chalk me up as someone that isn't optimistic at all.

I don't remember a moment of the third period, and I watched it all.

Ugh. Got home from church to see the end of the third. No Karlsson on the ice, Sens down 4-2. Then I hear the announcers talking about a great loss for the Sens, something about Karlsson... and my heart sank. Been reading/posting on these boards since. Ugh.

Extremely frustrated with Greening, he's fast and built like solid powerforward type but it's like he have put it on himself to be the nicest freaking person on the ice! I'd much rather give that LW spot to someone like Prince or DD down in bingo and see how they do at the NHL level..

gah what a ****** night

Oh I know that they're totally different. I never said they were the same injury. I'm just saying that he can recover. Just trying to be positive on this horrific night.

Michalek doesn't fight, neither does Fatendresse or Zibanejad or Phillips or Spezza. I guess Greening is this team's new whipping boy & the reason for all this teams problems.

Im sure this has been brought up, as ive seen it on twitter... But our attendance may take a massive hit with our 2 best players out for the year... If we start to lose games... Could get ugly at SBP

One positive is that DaCosta has looked pretty good the last few games.

Same with me. Remember the period starting and what seemed like only moments later there being 5 minutes left and the game at 4-2. I was just so distracted. Turned to the Raptors game after and couldn't even enjoy that win one bit.

This 100%

Star players draw fans. Karlsson was a massive fan favourite. Spezza was a close second. This team now has Alfie and Anderson and maaaaaybe Turris to draw fans and that's literally it.

Not sure how patient the majority of the fan base is going to be. You gotta support the team, but we all know how fickle people are with their cash in this town and how easy it is to find other sources of entertainment. A lot of people may just say "See ya in September boys"

Can they just build a Varia suit for EK like Samus did in Super Metroid? Who needs to be engaged to make this happen?

I disagree here.

With Healthy Spezza Cowen and Karlsson, we had a good chance of being in the 7-8 spot.

With the trio healthy and if Michalek/Alfie/Silf/Lats had good years, we'd be a lock for the playoffs.

All we can do now is hope Spezza's rehab is going really well.

Throw Bieksa in there too. I don't think many, including myself saw him coming back and being the same player.
