Deadline: Trade Anderson

The next few weeks should be very telling in regards to our playoff positioning.

We all know the plan is for Lehner to be the backup to Anderson next year, then take over the year after (looks to be the course anyways).

Should the Sens explore the possibility of trading Anderson now, while his stock has never been higher and go with the tandem of Bishop and Lehner?

Thoughts?

No. Anderson's been 1 of our best players this season. No way should we trade him especially now with Spezza and Karlsson gone.

I have had thoughts of the same kind! Depending on other situations around the league he could fetch something very good back.

Although it could backfire. I do not want the same situation as the Leafs. Lehner and Bishop are not proven at the NHL level. I would rather keep Anderson and have Lehner prove that he is the guy at the NHL level next year and take the job from Andy, instead of it being handed to him.

He's quite easily the best goaltender this team has ever had. I love the stability he brings to the team and the way they play in front of him.

Lehner is good, but even if there's a possibility that Lehner's top end potential is better than Anderson, Anderson is what any team would love to have already.

This would need to ba an amazing deal for this to happen so I doubt it would. We know what we have with Andy and if Lehner wasn't ready we'd take a major step back.

^^^ This.

What kind of message would that send to the playerrs?

"Sorry guys, EK is gone, Spezza is gone, we don't believe in your chances to overcome adversity, maybe next year."

Anderson wants to be here, is playing great, his teammates love him and they as a group feel they can win. You sure don't trade Andy, especially not knowing if Bishop or Lehner can carry the team on their own.

Yes you explore this....The team needs help and he is your biggest chip .

2 and half months of hockey left this team is without Spezza Karlsson Cowen Milo Regin Laterdresse

Why would you keep him Lehner is ready and Andy has crazy value

No. Bad Idea.

I don't know if this is serious?

We finally have a good goaltender for the first time in years. Yeah, let's trade him.

You know what helps a **** team? Good goaltending.

Lehner has a grand total of 10 starts in the NHL. He's not a remotely reliable option right now.

There's 34 games left and we're holding down a playoff spot right now. Milo, Regin and Latendresse will all be back very soon. Spezza could be back for the final couple weeks of the season as his rehab is already going well.

Anderson has done everything he possibly can for this team so far. How do you show that respect....you trade him? Come on, that's just so absurd. The team clearly has felt Lehner is NOT ready and Bishop is not the answer either. Leave Lehner alone for one for damn season and let Anderson carry things.

He's not going to be traded. The idea will not even be explored. Some of you must make awful fantasy GM's.

Lehner has never looked out of place !! This is when a team cashs out high on Andy and go with Lehner ..There is no reason too keep Andy right now with his value be at all time high

I see where you're coming from but I also believe that as an organization we should not treat players who have performed so well as mere commodities.

Anderson was a career backup until he proved he could start in Colorado then things went south (as a lot of things seem to in Denver these days) and he ended up here and got his big deal contract: I am fairly certain that he has absolutely no desire to move unless his wife and child live somewhere else.

Craig Anderson has been a paragon of awesomeness for us, trading him could good for the organization but it would look bad, similar to the sign-n-trade we pulled on Hossa (which certainly did help in trying to retain Chara!)

You're overvaluing what goalies bring back in trades. Especially a market that could have the following goalies available all at the same time: Kipper, Luongo, Backstrom, Vokoun, Theodore, etc.

Anderson is worth FAR more to us than he get on the open market. At this point of the season, what team is desperate for goaltending? Toronto has found a way to win with Reimer and Scrivens playing decently. Dubynk has played well in spite of playing for Edmonton and a terrible defense. Philly can't pick up a contract due to the mess of Bryzgalov and he's not the reason they're losing.

It's a seller's market. NO TO MOVING ANDERSON. DUMB DUMB DUMB thing to do.

So your hoping that everyone comes back to this team as we hold down a playoff spot ..Jesus open your eyes.

Lehner is ready they know he is thats why they been pushing a bishop trade move Lehner up ..So it happens now or next season ..Why not get value back

Because Craig Anderson is not a robot: he's a human being that has established a life in Ottawa and has played out of his mind for the team. You don't simply trade him because you can, you trade him if Pittsburgh says they'll give you Crosby for him sure, but in any other case you reward players you play like he does, a trade is something that isn't a whole lot of fun for players and for a guy like Anderson who's been a backup most of his NHL career I'm a sure he's enjoying the stability we've given him (and we are enjoying the stability he's given us)
