I actually like this deal. Tokarski has solid NHL backup potential, IMO.

Is there any way to say his name without screaming it out mcGuire style?

The difference is that big? Mayer has 3 more wins in 3 extra games. The difference isn't that big. Desjardins has lost nine games this year with a SV% over .900. Mayer has lost three games with a SV% over .900.

And before you say something about shots, the Dogs have given up less than 20 shots just twice this season (for each goalie).

Anyway, no reason to be debating this anymore. I like the trade because Tokarski is controllable.

Great move. Dustin has a higher ceiling than Cedrick, is younger, and is killing it with Tampa's farm team.

Sweet! Not often you blatantly win a 1 for 1 trade. Not like its a blockbuster or anything but this is a big upgrade in a weak area for the habs.

not a major move but i like it.

Younger and with decent track record including mem cup and calder in AHL last season He is easily an upgrade on Desjardins at this point.

Hopefully he can help^Hamilton win some more games, and maybe become NHL backup at some point. look forward to seeing how this plays out.

Didn't knew wikipedia had the same writers as RDS, good to know.

I like the trade, Tokarski is younger and still has good potential and had a incredible run during the Calder cup.

I like the deal. Thank you, Stevie Y.

Good luck to Desjardins as well.

Each passing day I thank Molson for not hiring Brisebois as the Habs GM. He keeps showing that apparently, the only guys he knows are the old guys from the Montreal organization. And when comes the time to sign some UFAs he didn't deal with, well he ends up overpaying big time for guys like Salo or Carle. Yes, Yzerman is the one taking the decisions, but in the end, Brisebois IS the lawyer and the mastermind behind the cap structure an the contracts.

I feel the Habs got the better end of this trade. But even at that it won't do much for them. Maybe Tokarski can play 10-20 games a season as a backup at best? Just a farm team goalie swap.

This is good trade. I know a little inside on Tokarski. I think this may be connection to Rick Dudley. My friend his son plays for Saint John's, last year they met Norfolk in playoffs. Tokarski was outstanding in that series. If I remember my friend's son also told me DK was their goalie in World Junior winning gold medal. But cannot remember if that was what he said exact or not now. They are best friends, kind of ironic how they met in AHL playoffs hears later. Anyway, he told me rumors years ago Atlanta tried to acquire DK. I think it was Atlanta, been 2 or3 years now. On Dudley's recommedation

From how I see it, Yzerman/Brisebois/Boucher have confidence that Desjardins can rebound while Montreal sees Tokarski as a good potential goalie.

This is Bergevin helping the prospect depth before the draft. I think Tokarski could make the NHL as a backup easily. It will be awesome to see Montreal have two Gold Medal winning goalies between the pipes.

In French, chess is called échecs. The folks in Tampa must have liked the sound of the name Desjardins, so they picked up another piece. There are 16 pawns in a chess set, so they have a ways to go. Of the 16, 8 are white and 8 are black (perhaps representing home and road uniforms in hockey). The remaining 16 are called major pieces, and Desjardins clearly isn't one of them.

I'm going to guess your friends son is Patrice Cormier?

No, I'm from St. John's and Cormier is the only one on the team to have played for Canada at the world juniors.

As for Takarski, I hope he doesn't end up as an AHL plug like his friend.

Nice move. We get a player 4 years younger and Tokarski has at least as much upside as Desjardins, who would have been UFA at the end of this season.
