Still only one English team that has ever won in the Bernabeau. Needless to say who it is! (just having some fun here don't take this too seriously )

Our soccer editor @MacAree thought Gus Johnson was decent. He'd also never heard him call anything before: sbnation.com/soccer/2013/2/…

All in all, not a bad debut per se. The major issue was that Gus' calling of the match was fundamentally unintuitive -- football is a sport in which you have to be thinking about what the players are trying to do at all times. If you don't, it's difficult to call live, and for Gus the whole match seemed more or less like a constant, fun, surprise. That'll change with practice, and if I had to bet, I'd guess he'll be very good by 2018.

It happens somewhat often when the halftime whistle goes, but at the end of the game? Rarely.

Gus wasn't that bad honestly, but he needs a better partner, Barton is so dry and doesn't seem to know much outside of EPL

Just finished watching the game. Brilliant result for us. I was appalled to see Welbeck and Jones on the lineup before the game but Welbeck put on a man of match performance. What a workhorse. Even Jones did his job well. Thankfully DDG was on his game today If RvP and Giggs finished off their chances, the result could've been a bit better. But its shaping up to be a great 2nd leg, I'm confident we'll win it

EDIT: I hope Valencia doesn't make a sub appearance ever. He has been absolutely ******* this season. There are far better options in the bench with Young and Nani.

Dat leap.

I blamed Evra for Ronaldo's goal until I saw the replay. His kneecap was at the level of Evra's head. - Fergie.

Watching the replay on FSC right now. Is it my imagination or are MU employing "tactical fouling" that Mourinho would be proud of?

I will always hate Madrid, Mourinho, Ramos, Pepe, Marcelo .... but damn if I don't love the way Ozil plays. That guy deserves better.

I really don't like how the ref ended the game.

Even being conservative, ozil and Ramos decided to lay on the ground for a bit, especially Ramos, you can probably put on 30 secs right there. Not really gonna blame ozil though, he actually probably got kicked pretty hard

He was struggling badly after. He didn't look the same after the injury. It was legit. It was hobbling around badly from tha tpoint.

Dortmund didn't show up today. Hummels played like ****, but I felt it was more because Shaktar where able to exploit Schmelzers positioning so much.

Hopefully they show up in Dortmund

You might want to check his stats... He was in fine form early in the season but then got injured for a while and hasn't been the same since.

Classy celebration by CR7 and nice reception for the Giggs substitution from the Bernabeu crowd.

Mourinho's a *****; bringing on Pepe there at the end pretty much said it all as far as his ambitions go. Does he think he has better chances of winning at Old Trafford than at home??

There's not a player that beats Ronaldo's physical abilities. Just amazing. I also remember him doing the whole field in like 10 seconds, 100m-sprinter like.

Ronaldo is a physical specimen. After training he used to strap on ankle weights and work on cross overs. So proud as he was grown into the player he is today by united and saf
