What an idiot, less teams means more parity and less of a chance to make the playoffs, right?

You are, my friend, once again thwarted by the equipment staff. Keegan Lowe is currently assigned 45. Because of course he's going to be wearing it tonight for us.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. Frattin has scored some goals, but Kessel is easily the Leafs best sniper.

There's also this gem by the same poster.

Hrm. That tells me more about what kind of fan he is than anything else (my but isn't the weather fair today?). Oh and there's about six or 7 guys on Toronto I ain't never heard of before.

This indeed is a great league.

2 points Canes.

I predict two to three wedding proposals tonight and at least one of those being a rejection.

I actually agree about the point of the talent pool.. there is not as many great players spread across the league but the league will likely never contract.

I'd also say the same talent pool problems are in every sport, you don't see them contracting either.

I'm not sure it's that simple though. Obviously as you expand, it dilutes the talent pool to some extent, but on the flipside, many years ago, there was not the heavy influx of players from Europe/Russia and hockey has grown by leaps and bounds in the US and other countries. I think the reason some players don't look as great, is because the competition and goaltending they are going against is so much better.

The NHL teams have a much more extensive scouting in other countries thus the best players in the world are all truly now in the NHL. That wasn't always the case.

So, there should be a smaller group of teams that are full of All Stars?

Isn't hockey a team sport? Maybe the problem isn't the talent pool of the players, but rather coaches?

Looking at the players who have played just last season that aren't in the NHL this year, you could probably still add a couple of teams and have no real loss talent-wise.

Tonight should be fun. Kind of an "all hands on deck" vibe, with the added bonus that we give a kid a shot, and the even-further bonus that JR may actually be forced to acknowledge that we're in desperate need of some defensemen. I'm excited.

Should be really interesting without Pitkanen and Gleason tonight....I hope the puck actually comes out of our zone a few times.

8-2 Leaves.

Nah, we aren't pulling this one out says I, Leafs are streaking and we've got Sangs in the lineup.

Here's to hoping we can get a point out of this!

Well we have momentum on our side. That's a plus.

Other than that, this one is a toss-up.

Final score 5-4 (hopefully) Canes.

Getting ready to head out to the Arena.
Ellis in with Timmy and Joni out could spell trouble.
I would expect Faulk and Harrison to put in excess of 25 minutes.
The real question is who gets to play with Sangs, just doesn't seem to be real good option there.

I would go McBain Faulk
Harrison Sangs
Jordan Corvo

Or
Harrison Faulk
McBain Jordan
Sangs Corvo

All the making of a 5-1 loss

Not true - Healthy scratches are on the lineup all the time.
Joni is on that lineup and we know he is out.

And that lineup was released this morning/early this afternoon. It was out around the same time I posted my question about who the second alt would be tonight.

Yeah, the lineup card is the entire active roster. Lineups actually aren't set until after the warmup, so technically, it's not even official as of right now.

Gleason not at pregame, so that's that. Jordan with Sanguinetti for NHL debut. Have that Checkers connection.
