Good pick up I guess. Hopefully he'll be able to become a capable backup.

Look at my new avatar.
Is Tokarski not looking good in a bleu-blanc-rouge jersey ?

We've got two AHL Calder Trophy winners now in our org.: Price and Tokarski, and two guys who won Gold for Canada at Junior level.
And on top of that, Tokarski won the memorial Cup.
The guy has won at every level so far.

Budaj is a UFA at the end of the season so he was bye bye anyway.
Tokarski needs to impress on the Bulldogs first before getting an NHL call up.

I don't follow our prospects nor the Bulldogs. Who's Montreal planning to call up as a backup GK next year ?

Nope, just busy at work typing and talking at the same time. Mind you, might as well have been drunk with that comment I made.

I doubt Tokarski gets that call, he probably won't be ready.
They'll probably sign a UFA to a 1 year deal, like they did with Budaj.

Not much on the UFA market.
Tokarski will have already 3 seasons in the AHL after this one. Time to give him a chance at NHL level as a backup.

Vokoun would be a great addition IMO, if he's willing to take the same contract he took in Pittsburgh.
edit: NM. I thought he had a 1 yr contract, not 2. My apologies.

Love the trade. Tokarski is young and has the potential to make the NHL.

Price is already paid 6 - 6,5 million- The backup -especially with the 64 million cap space - should not be paid more than 750k -1 million a year.
If Vokoun is that good for Pittsburg, they gonna re-sign him for another season. Biron for the NYR is doing that since many seasons now.
Pierre Groulx will take care of Tokarski's weaknesses. Tokarski seems to be a proven competitor and winner.

Nice little deal, MB hasn't made any big moves but he seems like a shrewd negotiator.

Agreed that he is a competitor and has won, but he's not that great of a prospect to be honest.
I hope I am wrong about Tokarski, but I have a feeling the Habs will go a more proven route.

I can't see a young developing goaltender being a backup in Montreal, not the right fit for someone who is going to get 10 starts a year. That role is more suited to a starter who is hanging on in the league (Budaj) or some journeyman type (Leighton, etc.) .
This feels like a stabilizing Bulldogs move.
