Karlsson with a severed tendon is still 300 times better than Kaberle and Weber. They're either try to ride the storm, or get someone who deserves a top 6 spot.
but with Karl out likely untill Christmas (achilles' tendons are a tough rehab) will any other dman come to them as cheap as him? Conditional 7th in 2174....anyone....any takers....please?
well....a macdonalds monopoly cup (prefferbly with the monopoly peel off in tact) coming back as well and its a deal.
so aa...on the ryan o`reilly front......we need a face off guy...and his face off numbers have gone up every year since he broke into the league...doesn`t mean hes a lock to be the next malhotra...but his numbers certainly look better than our lineup this year.

If all we need is a faceoff guy, then I'd try getting Vermette out of Phoenix. It would probably be cheaper than ROR and he only has 2 seasons left at 3.75mil on his contract after this one.

A guy like Steckel could also be a fit, seems to be odd man out with McClement arriving in TO.

Yes well that should be a really cheap trade. Has he ever been good at taking face offs? I never really followed that player and he doesn't have anything close to stellar this season.
He would make the habs look bigger that's for sure eh.
Would you move Bourque this season now that he has some value given his start? 4 months ago there was talk of a buy-out because of the 4 years left on his 3M+ contract.

That's the thing...
His play for the past month makes him a solid, even good, value player at his cap hit. Problem is that he's notoriously inconsistent, & quite likely to have future dips and extended slumps.
In a move where Minny sheds heatley's salary, taking on that risk might make a lot of sense, given their cap situation and wealth of talented young fwds 1-3 yrs away.
For us, heatley is also a risk, but despite his drop in play, he remains far more talented than Bourque & IMO could be the scoring winger plekanec has deserved/needed since kovy's great year. If not, it's only 1 year, and heatley would likely still have decent trade value at the '14 deadline.

For the right return, I don't see why not.
The right return is always the issue though. Risking a chemistry meltdown right now with the Pleks line would be a catastrophe. It would be a pretty big risk unless the team is out of the playoffs and there's still time before the dead line.
when it comes to asset management, when you re still building your team (which is what Bergevin is doing), i see players as i see stocks. buy low, sell high.
Since the Shark are playing poorly right now i would try to trade them Gionta for Clowe.... I would love to see Bourque-Plekanec-Cole and Patches-Eller-Clowe.

I can't see the Sharks doing that straight up. I'd love to have Clowe but it would cost us more than Gionta. I doubt the Sharks would trade him anyways.
No, this team shouldn't dispense young talent they want to see develop just satisfy the cost the Avs would put on RoR (Beaulieu). Besides RoR isn't signed and the team just low balled Subban on a bridge contract. What do you think would happen after this trade? RoR shouldn't even be a target unless he's signed to a similar bridge contract to what the rest of the core got and that's regardless of his production or potential.
