Florida/Vancouver (no goalies)

Florida has an abundance of bottom 6 players and an abundance of centres with weiss hurbedeau mueller shore goc matthias smithson and with malhotra being done for the year and most likely retiring in the off season I thought these 2 teams could make a trade once again

To Florida:
Kellan tochkin
2013 4th round pick
2014 3rd round pick

To Vancouver:
Marcel goc

Tochkin is a throw in like Ellington was when the canucks traded a 4th for pahlsson. Goc is good at face offs and is great defensively like malhotra was pre-injury. He can even chip in 20-30 points a season

Florida does this because of the amount of depth they have at center and bottom 9.

Goc is worth more than a throw in and a 4th IMO.

No reason whatsoever for Florida to do this. From a Vancouver standpoint I'm pretty happy with Sedin-Kesler-Schroeder-Lapierre down the middle, so don't see the need to acquire someone anyways.

Nucks fan saying, good depth centermen will go for more than that. If they are taking offers, that one will end up losing a bidding war.

Well with how cheap players have been going lately for 4/5/7ths (albeit most being in the doghouse with their former team fans) looking back at history players like goc don't generally fetch much. Look at trades the canucks have made during the trade deadline when the value of picks are at their lowest and players values are at their highest

Pahlsson for 2 4th round picks and Ellington
Higgins for a 3rd and Evan oberg
Lappierre and macgregor sharp for Joel Perrault and a 3rd

This is a bit less than any of these players but then again these were all trade deadline deals where picks are at their lowest value at any point and players values are at their highest.

Maybe add in a 5th round pick in 2014?

The difference is that those players were not in the future plans of their teams.

Goc is a fixture in Florida and probably one of the most underrated players in the entire league; he plays a shutdown role and produces similar results to Jordan Staal and Frans Nielson, and well ahead of guys like Fisher, Horcoff, Laich, Bolland, and Brandon Sutter.

He starts in his own zone more than almost every other player, against other teams' top lines, and yet the Panthers regularly outshoot the opposition when he's on the ice. He's a great penalty killer and he's strong at faceoffs.

He's worth far more than a longshot prospect and a 4th, even if Florida was interested in trading him.

Did not know he was that good I figured he was inbetween Sammy pahlsson and malhotra pre injury in value and would be expendable

Ehm.. what?

Weiss, Shore, Goc and Smithson. Matthias, Kopecky and Mueller can play center, but are more suitable at wing. Where is this "depth" that you're talking about?

You'd likely have to give a 3rd+ or a 2nd for them to start listening.

One of the worst proposals I've seen in a while. I am a Canuck fan.

This, only the first are centers, others all play on the wing.

And Goc has been great for us as he always does what's asked of him and does it well. He's a perfect 3rd line center.

Kellan Tochkin?

Signed as a FA by Van in 2009. A huge longshot to be an NHLer. Did you just pick a random player in the organization?

Holy Living ****. That is bad.

Goc is, like, the one guy who was better than Malhotra was pre-injury at that job - and he's improved since. No way you'd pry him out of Florida for that pittance.

Fair enough but can I have a Panthers Fan tell me what they would accept for him? As in specifically what they think is fair value?

Dunno, we don't want to lose him. He's exactly what you want on the third line. I'd imagine a 2nd and a prospect.

Florida needs a goalie more than Vancouver needs a center, yet no talk. Why?

There's been talk but why bring it up in this thread?

We don't need a goalie, if Markstrom wasn't in the system and they weren't asking way too much, loud would probably be a Panther. Markstrom being the biggest reason.
