More Lebrun on #TSN690: #Habs Lars Eller is drawing a lot of trade interest across the league; wouldn't be surprised if he's moved this year
Elliot Freidman mentioned the same thing earlier this season as well.

For one thing, he's probably not getting enough minutes. He's been on the fourth line a lot.

Young center with untapped offensive potential still I think. Good defensively too. I think that four-goal game last season was just a glimpse at what he could do. I think he's got potential to do more offensively if given the chance in a top-six role. Will no doubt attract a lot of interest. If you still consider him a prospect he's a good one, although I think the term "young player" better suits him.

It's not like Montreal is some juggernaut. If he deserved the minutes, he'd get them.

He does deserve the minutes. Coach has given Desharnais a long leash and the benefit of the doubt.

He's got some good potential. Don't see why the Habs should trade him. They should be focusing on giving him more opportunity and better linemates.

Going forward I just don't see who's blocking him. They have Plekanec and presumably Galchenyuk for the first two spots, and Eller looks like the perfect guy to slot in behind them.

They might have to decide between Eller and Desharnais this year.

Alright well when the obvious one isn't resigned, he gets his opportunity.

Chicago would probably be interested. Bergy knows the prospect pool. Pirri and a 2nd for Eller?

Hard to say. A lot of habs fans don't want him gone. They actually want to see him get opportunities to play with quality linemates.

Hopefully the Canucks are interested, we could use another center capable of playing a solid two-way game.

Would Bishop + Pageau be close in value?

Eller tricks you with his size, skating and shot. He looks like the total package but he can't put it all together to take his game to the next level. You'll get flashes from him which make you think he can become a top 2 centerman, but in the end I don't think he will. You're looking at a tweener who could be play top 6 minutes on a weak team but more likely top 9. A useful role player who could play in all situations.

Eller has played 2 full nhl season. Too early tell his ceiling.

Right now, he doesn't get many minutes, little powerplay time and plays with the team's lowest quality wingers. He's shown glimpses, but hasn't really been given an extended look in any top 6 role in the last 2 years.

He's a good puck possession player, wins a lot battles in the o-zone, already polished defensively. Is very good at skating his way through the neutral zone. Could work on his face-offs. Hard to tell his playmaking ability as he never players with quality wingers. The only time he has was with Andrei Kostitsyn and they were fantastic together for the little they played on the same line,

Not surprised there's interest. Would be mildly surprised if Montreal gives up on him this soon.

Obviously depends on the return, but although Montreal isn't a great team they also don't have any glaring weaknesses that trading Eller would fill. I really don't see the point unless they package Eller for an upgrade.

Eller was drafted by new CBJ GM Jarmo Kekäläinen, so I could see some possible interest there.

The Jackets need more potential top 6 forwards. But I don't see why the Habs would trade him or if the CBJ have anything to give up. Maybe David Savard considering how well Cody Goloubef has done.

If Montreal is to get rid of a center I believe David Desharnais is at the top of their list of players to trade. Eller is a hard worker and has to much upside. They should give him a chance on the 2 first lines consistently and then assess his progression.
