Ryan O'Reilly is an overpayment.

You'd really take Eller over Plekanec, Bergeron or Kessler?

He is. But he is also a puzzle for Bergevin.

Ok... but what does Despres have to do with anything? I don't think we're looking for dmen and I also don't think Pittsburgh wants to trade him. And comparing a defenceman with a forward doesn't really make much sense either...

Bourque-Pleks-Gionta
Patches-O'Reilly-Galchenyuk
Cole-Desharnais-Gallagher
Moen-White-Prust

Much stronger team then we have now

Eller is a good problem for Montreal. He's the sort of depth this team needs. He would have played third line all year if it wasn't for Galchenyuk showing skill as an NHL center. The problem is that Therrien needs to put him in a more offensive role and see if he shines where Desharnais has dimmed. If it doesn't work, the fourth line play of Desharnais might spark DD to remember how to play in the NHL.

My argument being that if MT can't be assed to figure out that Eller deserves at least top 3 C responsibilities on this team, I can't imagine him being that much more a fan of orly's game.

That's the first player in that mold that I thought of. McDonagh doesn't make any sense.

Which makes sense but no one can argue that he's an upgrade from Eller

You said you would take Eller over a $5M 2nd line centre.

As far as I know O'reilly is still unsigned, so he's NOT a $5M 2nd line centre, the ones I listed are.

Try typing what you actually mean.

Just because he would be paid the same does not make him the same. Pretty basic stuff, I think even my 10yr old niece could figure that out.

No worries, you clearly didn't graduate grade 10 English. I'll work around it.

Then don't use the ****ing salary as a measuring stick of a player's talent if it doesn't mean anything

Would have to be a clear win. No reason to trade a young player otherwise.

IMO. O'Reilly is the type of center we are missing. A hard-nosed, Defensive center who is capable of putting up 50 points. We'd have to give more than Eller. If we could go into next year with

Plekanec
Galchenyuk
O'Reilly

as our top 3, we'd be set for years.
