Trade for O'Reilly or Fire Ruff

It is 10 years in the future and through a government science program, you are able to use quantum physics to travel back in time, within your lifetime, but in the body of someone else. So you Quantum Leap back and you are in Darcy Regier's body for only a few minutes, you have time to make one move and Terry has given you the clearance to:

A: Fire Lindy Ruff effective immediately

OR

B: Trade for Ryan O'Reilly, with a deal in place that is Ennis and and one of the Sabres top prospects, maybe a little more.

What do you do?

I assume this quantum leap allows me to effect one choice and not both because reasons.

So...I trade Ennis and Armia/McCabe/Pysyk/Girgensons for O'Reilly.

Lindy is gone at the year without my help I think.

I loved Terence Stamp as Zod.

That being said, Radar would look great as the #2C. I'm on the fence as far as Lindy. I agree that he is a good coach, but I don't like many of his decisions. The bottom line is that this team lacks high end talent (with the exception of Vanek, Pominville and yes, Miller).

I would easily do:

Stafford and McNabb or Ennis and McCabe for RoR.

I trade I was thinking of was Ennis and one of McNabb/Armia/McCabe/Pysyk, the little extra would something like a 2nd round pick. Pretty much what has been going around in the main threads, and has been a consensus amongst Avalanche fans as being the best offers they were seeing. So I wouldn't mind you explaining how that trade offer is miserable.

Bad for us. Ennis + that prospect is enough, and arguably an overpayment depending on who it is we're talking about. Adding a second to that is ludicrous. Just offer sheet him at that price, or trade McNabb and a first because they're going nowhere and we get to add a piece at the cost of no roster players.

I just hope RoR moves so this topic can be done with, if RoR is as good as people around here indicate then why won't his own team go over $3.5 per?

Faulty logic. It's pretty common for teams to poorly evaluate the worth of their own key talent and let it go elsewhere. Hell, the Sabres have been guilty of it several times over the last few years alone.

I've done some snooping into the Avs forum. Popular opinion (they have a poster who claims to know him IRL) is that the Avalanche "botched" their negotiations with him and he's very unhappy with how their front office treated him. Basically, it appears that RoR just doesn't want to play for the Avalanche anymore.

Also, I would trade for O'Relly since I believe it's much more unlikely to happen without time travel body swapping intervention.

Why didn't Buffalo go over 3 years for Briere?
(It's Buffalo, so you know the details... you probably don't know the details about Colorado)

Go look on the main boards or in our trade proposal thread. I really don't feel like going over it again in this thread.

Just tell him you love Ennis too much to part with him in any trade whether it be for Bobby Ryan or Jordan Staal or Ryan O'reilly

As long as Ruff is coach, Buffalo will play a bland, boring, and worst of all predictable brand of hockey that won't win a Cup. So unfortunately I have to balk at the ROR trade and fire Ruff instead.

ROR are rare breeds and he instantly makes this team better, that said a new coach would have many tools if he came in having ROR Hodgson and Grigorenko down the middle in the future although maybe Girgensons can be shopped in return for ROR.

Sekera and Girgensons for ROR?

So do you mean if we trade for ROR that we have to keep Ruff around long-term? If so, easy for me, fire Ruff. I don't know if we will ever win with Lindy as our coach, but we can find a way to win without ROR.

Both?

I choose firing Ruff making this choice. I think too many players on the Sabres are playing below capability. Firing Ruff makes more of an impact through the whole roster than trading for O'Reilly.

Fire Ruff will mean new blood as a coach...may get much more out of the guys... if we bring in ROR, he will just be under the Ruffluence
