I agree with all of this, but it's just sad that Calgary took such a gamble with that first pick on a long-shot. *sigh* I wish Calgary knew how to draft =o(

What if he turns into the next Blake Wheeler would you still be upset?

No kidding. I also fail to see how he is a huge longshot. He has the frame and the skating ability to become a bottom six player if his offense does not pan out.

I don't think he is as boom or bust as everyone is making him out to be. As you mentioned Blake Wheeler only had 23 points in 39 games and was tied for 8th in team scoring in his first NCAA season as a 19 year old .

Jankowski has 12 points in 23 games as a true freshmen on a very subpar offensive team in Providence (third on the team in PPG average). In addition to that he has also had a larger jump up in competition than Wheeler did as he went straight from prep school instead of the USHL.

Fans who were hoping for Jankowski to produce at a point per game pace as a 17/18 year old in the NCAA had misguided expectations. He is holding himself above water in what is a monumental step up in competition. That speaks volumes to his character and skill level.

Of course you agree with all of it, it is simple facts. Assuming the college players stay in college for 4 years that is the year they would be entering the AHL, there was not an ounce of opinion in that post.

Just like Irving's stats when he got sent down were fantastic...

Aliu's biggest problem is his consistency. One night he looks like the next coming of Iginla. Others, Nigel Dawes. If he doesn't find a way to bring it consistently night in / night out, he won't ever be a NHL player.
