7 out of 8 points is good. Winning in Boston, but losing to the Islanders at home, even in OT, to me puts the team back to where they were before the Boston game. Searching for their game.

After Washington, who they need to beat, they have the Canadian swing of teams (Montreal twice, Ottawa, and Winninpeg). Another 6 or 7 points is needed in these 4 games against the Canadian teams. Montreal will be tough, especially in the Bell Center. Winnipeg is okay and Ottawa is no excuse unless Anderson stands on his head without Spezza and Karlsson.

Still time to find their game. If this issue is going on around game 20, I'll get a little more worried. Right now, go with the flow and this team has the talent to get through this.

Need some hard practicing to avoid this again... We need to learn how to hold a lead.

I agree. If you just look at it not knowing anything 3 our of 4 points is good. However when you have a 2-0 lead after 1 your expectation is to win the game an extremely high percent of the time (maybe 90%? I don't know i'm making the number up) so your expected points for the game should be 1.9 so we really "should have" earned 3.9 points out of 4.

I don't really see where the insult is where you can clearly lay out the fact one guy is better at a given situation than the other. Now whether or not he could come in cold and do better nobody knows but it's definitely not insulting and if it were to be taken that way then the player is simply not rational. If the goal is to do whatever it takes to win (and this should be the goal) and a cold Hank can do better than Biron after playing the game then this is a move that should be made.

Is it insulting to bench Richards for playing poorly? Is it insulting to not use Gaborik in the shootout because he has historically not been good in them? (not this year or last, but previously...the year Jokinen went last over him in the final game vs Philly) Then how is it insulting to make a goalie change given the knowledge that one guy historically has not performed well? The shootout is pretty distinct and unlike the rest of the game in that you can play great (poorly) in the game but then be the same old poor (great) shootout player you've always been.

It is a game of small edges. Even if Hank can only stop say, 60%, when coming in after not playing that additional 7 percentage points adds up throughout the year. Also, I don't want to hear anything about "risking injury" when coming in cold. Goalies don't get to warmup when they come in after the starter is pulled in a game and injury isn't a concern then. This situation should have even less concern as he's only in for a few distinct plays without the fear of contact.

Henrik is the ultimate competitor, he's ready to go anytime. Do you really think Nielson would have had it so easy against Henrik?

As for Boyle, I personally don't think he was that great. Didn't notice him too much and he got away with 2 obvious penalties, and if those were caught then we could have lost in regulation easily.

Hagelin was fantastic tonight. I think Boyle played way too much (even if he wasn't bad he wasn't great either and presents no offensive threat). Stepan needs to learn how to one-timer. He had a great chance in the closing minutes though and got robbed by the glove save.

Powerplay killed everything once again. Islanders score as soon as their man gets out of the box, and then take the lead less than a minute later after grabbing all that momentum.

It's easy to win against us. Just take penalties. WTF.

We need to stop setting up Stepan on the power play. He cannot get a one-timer off.

Gaborik, Richards, Nash....no, let's try to set up Stepan! They'll never see it coming! Unfortunately for us we'll never see a powerplay goal either.

Stepan slows everything down too. Which isn't too bad for 5 on 5 but really kills the powerplay.

Idk, as good as Hank is, that is an absolute nightmare of a situation to put a goalie into. Should only happen if there is an injury.

The guy fumbles every clean pass he receives. Agree on using him on the point. Anything to get Bucktooth Beaver off the point is fine by me.

Stepan should be running a PP unit from the half-boards. This PP unit should have Del Zotto on the point. The other PP unit should be run by Richards from the point, this unit should have Stralman as the D-man.

It's arm chair coaching, but what ever.

Nash - Richards (takes the faceoff and slides to point) - Gaborik
Callahan (swaps with Richie) - Stralman

Hagelin - Stepan - Kreider/Pyatt
Del Zotto - Girardi

If we lose against the Caps and Canadiens, and the PS4 doesn't get unveiled on Thursday..I'm going to..do something constructive because being so pissed off only leads to strokes and heart attacks.

What a wonderful coach, with a winning attitude.
Yeah I'm a Torts defender but I'm starting to change my opinion on him. It's really unacceptable the way the team's attitude has been this year. Long way from last year.

Yeah, for a guy that called out Hagelin in one of his better games for a penalty he seemed to take this game in stride. Unbelievable. Shocking really.

They were 2 points ahead of where we are now. At this point they were in the midst of a 7 game winning streak. If this team wakes the **** up they should go on a run. They have an easy schedule. Though the Isles were one of the easiest teams in this stretch. Really disappointing to blow this game.

Would it be that difficult for Biron to make a ******* EFFORT in the shootout?

**** sake!

He stands there and doesn't even make move on Nielsen. He looks down at his skates like they're untied while the puck slides by. You're a professional athlete, Marty, or at least you're supposed to be. Is it too much to ask for you to, I dunno, put your pads on the ice? Nielsen made you look like a clown.

disclaimer: We did not lose this game because of Marty... but we certainly lost the shootout before it even started

Speaking of the powerplay it really infuriates me that Gaborik is now off the top unit for unknown reasons. He's our best goal scorer he should be playing a majority of the powerplay - not just the last 45 seconds or so. It's not even worth trying to establish balance on the powerplay. There's not enough time and both units are equally horrible as it is so would be best off trying to get one unit, with the best offensive players, working.

Really our practices should be devoted like 75% to powerplays.
