Michalek would cost a 1st and 4th. Probably with a 3rd going edmontons way or something

I would love to see what Oil fans would ask for in return for a 35 goal scorer

Man Michalek is underrated. Honestly why would the Sens move him for anything aside from the Oilers top guns.

Given the price tag, not interested. It would be entirely delusional for the Oil to think they were one Michalek type player away from making some noise. For a team with as many holes as ours, trading our first or top prospect to MAYBE sneak into 8th is very poor management.

IMO, we are about 4 players away from being a legit playoff team ( 1 more shutdown Dman, 1 top 6 F with size, 1 bottom 6 C with all the intangibles, 1 bottom 6 winger with size who can fight). Michalek does fill one of those holes, but a pick in the 10-15 range will as well for less money and longer time. Not to mention I have zero interest in trading Klefbom (though he would look amazing alongside Karlsson).

Wait, you think Musil is untouchable in a deal for Michalek?

Not an unreasonable request.

Who would you consider being a "better" D prospect?

Personally, I'd consider moving Klefbom in the right deal, but where on the chart would Marincin slide in your opinion?

A part of me would consider it, but I'm very aware that Klefbom has fallen under the radar due to his injury this year. Which leads me to believe that I'm under-rating him.

If you're getting Paajarvi back, would you consider Marincin and the 2nd?

I'd do MPS, Marincin, 2nd for Michalek. But I don't buy his shooting % last year, and his injury issues have me concerned about the proposition of a long term deal.

FWIW: last year he had 35 goals on a 16.5 shooting%. His career shooting % (biased by his career high last year) is 12.7%. Had he shot 12.7% last year he would have scored 27 goals. He led the league with 5 empty netters.

Your saying MPS + Marincin + 2nd for Michalek? I would do that.

Why would the Sens want to trade Michalek? The Sens aren't sellers. They have a great team. The only players they should be selling are those who are UFA at the end of the year and are unlikely to resign, since this year is a write-off. But next year, the Sens will have a very solid team, and Michalek will be a part of that.

As an Oil fan I could get behind that. Paajarvi has looked real good on the PK lately and is a player I'd like to keep and continue to develop, but this is the type of upgrade we need. Marincin is expendable with Klefbom ahead of him, Musil being more stay at home, and Gernat being a similar Dman (though further back in his development). A lot of talent still available in the middle of the 2nd rd in this draft. Good trade for both teams IMO.

For the Oil I'd roll 3 balanced scoring lines:

Hall-Gagner-Eberle
Jones-RNH-Yak
Michalek-Horc-Hemmer

I would say it would take a massive over payment to get the Oilers 1st or Klefbom and Michalek wouldn't be enough. Not because Michalek is worth it, he definitely is, but the Oilers want to build a team for the future. Michalek is UFA in a year, too much to give up for a team that might make the playoffs next year. The Oilers have a bigger need at D and at C.

I've watched Musil this year play a number of times and he's exactly what the Oilers need in a shutdown D with a mean side to him. People are living a fantasy to believe the Oilers will trade the 2013 1st or Klefbom. Love to have Michalek, but the Oilers have other assets they can trade, people just have to be patient.

Personally I think a big winger is all our top 6 is missing. I like Gagner at C. I'd give up Hemsky++ for him. I probably wouldn't part with our first or Klefbom but any other combination of picks or prospects should be on the table for a guy like Milan.

Michalek requires a playmaking center to be effective.
