Anything can happen in the playoffs. Especially with a team this good.
The Kings were ridiculously unlucky scoring wise last year. However, they simply dominated the opposition 5on5 in terms of scoring chances for vs. against. Top 3 team in the NHL with very unlucky numbers. Rangers on the other hand were middle of the pack and presumably got lucky with their scoring number relative to the chances they created.

Stats.

Torts is doing fine.

When there's nothing to complain about, people start complainaing about what might be. It's tiring.
There are major flaws on this team, but it's getting swept away under the rug because the got the W. Nonsense. This is a very unsustainable playing style.

I don't think it is getting swept under the rug. However, given we had such a successful year last season and the lack of a preseason and shortened training camp mean we need to show some patience.

Our recent play has been encouraging once we've had some secondary scoring and our best player (Hank) has started to step up his game.

Most of us on here are preaching patience, which is not the same thing is sweeping any flaws under the rug. In fact, I think many of us agree with there are flaws to this team, and also agree with Torts and Sathers decisions to inject some speed to the lineup by both bring guys up (Miller) and signing/making moves (Ferreiro, Powe) for guys who've playedin place of Boyle and Rupp who are among our worst skaters.

Every team has problems. The good teams "sweep them under the rug" by winning consistently anyway.

There's a tremendous difference between acknowledging a team that is less than perfect, which every single one is, and saying the team is bad, the style is harmful and it's time to consider firing the coach.

Not getting the bang for buck from our Big 3 on the score sheet. Plain & simple. There are no excuses here. Guys are getting paid extremely well to score and are not putting up acceptable numbers. YET. I readily add.

Nash has played well, Gaborik so-so and Richards has been mediocre so far IMO. But we should be getting close to the competitive point production in the league as opposed to the salary they get. Otherwise these investments are not viable.

0 PP goals for these 3 star players, with over 2,5 hours of combined PP time and during 39 different Power play opportunities, including countless 5 on 3s, is simply not acceptable. It is a disaster! Anyone disagreeing here is simply delusional.

I agree, but unfortunately, as long as John Tortorella is the coach of this team, we are not going to be adjusting anything. No hiring powerplay specialists, no smart line combos, basically nothing productive. We either go out and grind out a win, or we go out and grind it out in a loss. There is no middle ground here, it's either really good or really bad. If we are not >21st on the powerplay, we won't get over the hump. I hate having a stubborn coach like him sometimes, funny thing is, he came into this league as a pure Powerplay specialist.

Well, I think we've overpaid Richards without a doubt and I don't think he will perform to his contract, but probably something closer to a $5.5-6M deal, which is fine as long as he does not suddenly regress, considering we got him for free. UFA deals always cost more.

Nash has been the game breaker we needed and has been without a doubt our best forward this year, he's lived up to his contract and more goals will come. He's also been our best player in regards to puck possession, playmaking and work along the boards. He just needs more guys to play at the same level.

Gabby has been up and down and needs to do better.

And it's clear our PP is unacceptable. But the blame doesn't just go on our big three. It should turn around and if they'd all have 1-2 more PP points each they'd be all be at a ppg, which in my opinion is excellent production.

FWIW, I have yet to see a spin-o-rama pass from the corner.
