Because he's proven he can score goals.

Cooke - Malkin - Neal
Bennett - Sutter - Kennedy

is what they're going to start with.

He's been garbage this year. Ridiculous Jeffrey and Vitale get scratched and he's still in.

TK promptly scores two goals (both primary assists are Bennett) and the world ends because we solidified our top 3 lines and there is no reason to make a trade ... muahahahahaha!

I hope DB will be smart enough to eventually shuffle the lines and get him in the top 6

If there's one thing you can expect from Bylsma, it's line shuffling. Just throw crap against the wall and see if it sticks approach.

It's pretty much what we expected. The Pens don't want to rush him onto a top 2 line so he'll start on the 3rd line. He'll probably get some shifts on the top 2 lines throughout the game.

TK playing despite his bad play is annoying but expected. I'd rather Boychuk stay in there on line 3 but then Bennett would have to play RW. Maybe the Pens don't see him as a RW for their team.

He's still proven to have a better chance if putting one in than those two. TK on the fourth line with Jeffrey in his place at times I could buy, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. TK is still clearly the best player out of the three.

He's far from perfect, but can people really blame Kennedy for wanting to shoot it on their chest?

I wouldn't be too quick to get angry about Beau starting on the third line. For one thing, you know Bylsma will get him out with Sid or Geno for at least a shift or two during the game, especially if Beau is playing well. Bylsma can't resist line juggling with Malkin and the third line. The only constant is Sid's line. That never changes.

I'd also say that the third line could use some scoring help, as it hasn't been all that productive. And this is the kid's first NHL game, it might be a bit overwhelming to immediately toss him on Geno's line and expect him to keep up.

The 3rd line is probably faster, and I'd imagine Beau would actually feel mroe comfortable playing with high skill players than grinding on the 3rd.

Every single shiny prospect deserves 20 first line minutes a night. Even though they're not really shiny.

If beau turns out to be another fringe 3rd/4th liner like most of the pens forwards recently, we are in serious trouble. Who do you turn to if Bennett fails? What other prospects can we drastically overrate if he is a bust?

I'm actually really nervous. We always had Beau Bennett waiting in the wings, I can't take watching another forward prospect flop.

I don't think it's a fail to see Bennett start on the 3rd line. He's 21 years old making his NHL debut, there's no reason to give him top 6 minutes yet. We didn't give Despres top pair minutes last year or this year.

It's letting the player get comfortable, giving him a cup of coffee in the NHL, he will gets shifts in the top 6.

i'm sure Bylsma knows Bennett was drafted to be a top 6 forward, that doesn't mean you put him there from the start.

Trades and future drafts I guess. If he doesn't pan out Shero can always trade for example a good D prospect for another teams F prospect. This up coming draft is deep and I hope we find a way to snag up some serious offensive talent

I think it's fine that BB starts on the 3rd line.

I'm just laughing at the fact that we finally have some "skilled" RHS on the team, and they're all on the same line.

A banger such as who? Rick Tocchet,? Kevin Stevens? Brendan Shanahan? Not many guys like that. Malkin and Neal are far too skilled for a grinder to help the line. Bennett is perfect for those two as he's a skilled skater, puck handler and passer, and Neal and Malkin are great finishers. Let's hope it works out.

Kennedy sucks right now - I get that, but what other options do we really have? Thats the downside of having roster totally devoid secondary scoring talent. If the 2nd tier players like Kennedy aren't producing consistently, there really are no backup plans.

As far as Bennett - I think it's good for him to start on the 3rd line and eventually earn shifts on the top 2 lines.
