It was just a 5-game contract for this season. The remaining two are SA@TEX on Mar 19th and OKC@SA on Mar 23rd.

Can anybody see Markstrom coming up sometime soon? I'm in a huge crisis with my goaltending in my fantasy keeper league. I could use him for next year maybe as a keeper.

Barring an injury in Florida, I really really doubt it.

Interesting thought from Dan Weiss yesterday at practice. Said to me that he really thinks Santorelli could be this season's Matsumoto for the Rampage if he stays all season, only a better version. Said he has a lot to prove and could be that point/game #1 center this team has needed all season.

Nate, do you have any update on our injuried players? I know Vaive is out for a few weeks, Caruso still has a few weeks also. But any news on Timmons, Rheault and Petrovic? Anybody catch any practices this week to see if they were on the ice? Did Caruso ever clear waivers to come back cleanly?

Dan Weiss said on twitter that Timmins was gonna go tonight and be re-evaluated after the game. Petro is 10-14 days away, and Rheault could be available next weekend.

Caruso is still out with the broken arm, and should be for another couple of weeks. He's still in FLA i believe.

Caruso has been around town here. He should be back in Fla, next week or the following week. Atleast that is what he said when I saw him Wednesday at a season ticket holder event that was held.

The starter where? In Florida? Possible. In San Antonio? Not a chance.

Says who? the Panther brass seems pretty adamant about letting this guy develop and not rushing him. Somebody gave Santos or Tallon a question about him and they didn't seem to happy about calling him up or rushing him. If he comes into camp shaky or finishes this season with question marks, why wouldn't they let him refine his skills some more.

He's 23 already, turning 24 next year.
At what point is he not being rushed anymore? Should we call him up when he turns 40?

He's been in the AHL for awhile now. If he's not ready by next year, there's something wrong. As it is, he's probably ready now.

He's got nothing left to learn in the AHL.

In my opinion, they aren't rushing him this year because they want to see him handle a full season load. If he stays healthy all season, he'll be one of the two goalies in Florida next season.

He's been developed though. They are not keen on calling him up because of Clemmer's salary. But Theo is gone this summer so that opens up a spot for next season. He's been great in S.A. for most of the season. He'll have another few months down there to keep improving even further. He's ready to step up to the next level, and our two goalies who were great last season have an abundance of chinks in the armor now. It's the right time for Marky to come up this summer.

Ok I see, I don't follow the Rampage; I just remember seeing he was allowing a lot of goals then he played lights out then he was allowing a lot goals ala being inconsistent

He had a pretty rough start, but since the beginning of December, he's probably had 2-3 games where he wasn't tremendous.

Just for fun, here are his numbers since 12/1/2012:

21 games played
12-8-0-1
2.27 GAA
.934 Save %
3 Shutouts

-Allowed 2 or fewer goals in 15 of 21 games.
- Allowed 4 or more in 4 of 21 games

In short, without Markstrom and DGM, this team would be challenging the record for worst record ever in the AHL.

.934 Save % monster numbers, do they have a Vezina equivalent in the AHL? Would he be a front runner for it

if this org was just about winning, and not counting every dollar, the no brainer was to bring in Markstrom from day one this season who would be one of the few goalies who could hit the ground running with those numbers.

I dont want to hijack the thread, just adding my two cents.

And once again thank you for your knowledge on SA here and on twitter, its a wonderful resource.
