I would hate both the Bruins and Sens more if this trade went down.

It's a very solid trade from an outside view.

Are the Sens at all willing/looking to move Michalek?

I'd think the Jets would be interested.

You wouldn't be. Michalek is underrated by Ottawa fans, but overrated by other fans (I did not mix that up). We need to keep him simply because he's our only top 6 winger going forward, and he plays very well with Spezza.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot of speculation about Alfrdsson being traded, with Vancouver being the frontrunner, but nothing ever comes of it and Alfredsson just stays in Ottawa.

The exact same thing that happened with Doan.

A depth move idea for the Canes, take a couple of low-risk flyers on a couple of oft-injured guys. I could see Lats as a great second-line LW for the Canes...if only his injury problems subsided. Back when he was a rookie in Montreal, I saw some flashes of PF, Erik Cole-like potential in him. Exactly the kind of player we could try out on the cheap.

To Canes:

LW Guillaume Latendresse
D Mike Lundin

To Sens:

D Bobby Sanguinetti
4th Round Pick 2013

Lines:

Tlusty - Staal - Semin
Lats/Ruutu - Staal - Skinner
Lats/Ruutu - Jokinen - Dwyer
Bowman - Brent - Wallace
Nodl, Westgarth

Pitkanen - Faulk
Gleason - Corvo
Harrison - McBain
Lundin

I'd be interested. Not sure what you guys would be willing to move for him though. Most valuable assets to us from your team would be someone like Bryan Little or Tobias Enstrom...neither of which I think will be moving for Michalek.

Its great that he has a love for the City but my god... isn't the purpose of being a pro athlete winning? I understand the whole part of having a family & not wanting to up root them which makes the decision harder... I dunno that kind of comment doesn't seem right to me.

The Devils are missing a key piece to their puzzle and that's a top 6 LW. Milan Michalek could be a solid option considering we have a couple of prospects who are on the bubble, trying to make the team, and a healthy scratch that can bolster your blueline in Henrik Tallinder... especially with the injury to Karlsson.

Would something like Tallinder + Josefson/Tedenby/Loktionov + Gélinas/Scarlett/Burlon be enough for Michalek and would Ottawa fans even consider it?

Ottawa won't actively look to move Michalek. As has already been stated, he's our only real top 6 winger who isn't 40.

But everyone has their price. You need to start with Matteau or Boucher to start the conversation. We can take Tallinder but only as a cap dump. He holds no value to Ottawa.

I would be very interested in acquiring Tedenby if he needs a change of scenery. Not necesarily invloving Michalek however.

As it stands Ottawa is using 3 AHL defenceman. Ottawa is not likely to trade a D right now.

As a Sens fan I must admit I don't really see us as sellers at this point. The team is rebuilding but we would need to be out of the playoff race to start shipping guys out.

If we were out we wouldn't have too many good assets to move either. Gonchar would be available, Condra, Regin, Daugavins too I guess.

I'd deal Gonchar, Greening, Regin, Latendresse... Condra and Phillips for the right price.

Okay, fictional GMs, this is pretend Bryan Murray here, letting y'all know that Gonchar & Latendresse are available for the right price (pretty much anything).

You make a valid point, but it also shows that he is fully commited to his team, regardless of the situation they're in...

OK, so:

1) why is Ruutu in that mock lineup? Isn't he done for the year? Did he make a miracle recovery that I don't know and will be angry about because I paid a guy in my keeper pool to take his contract for the year and got nothing in return?

2) I'm all for moving depth guys like Latendresse & Lundin in a sell-off, but Sanguinetti is worse than either Lats and Lundin, and the 4th rounder doesn't really go all that far...

Was he rocking out to Alors on Danse while slamming down a double cheeseburger at Mcdonalds ?

Yannick Weber for a 4th/5th in 2013 or 2014 3rd.
