Well, I assume his trade value went up somewhat due to his stellar half-season

5- Higgins

We're talking value here. I don't think kats is gonna fetch you the same return as kovy/koivu simply b/c he is an unproven talent.

Mike

according to some hab fans on the trade board

1 - Riberio
2 - Zednick
3 - Bonk
4 - Aebischer

In all reality i would put Higgins, Komisarek and Markov top 3. It's a cap world and guys with low salaries who are good are worth more then guys with big salaries that are slightly better.

But age, health and contract have to factor into the decision. Kovalev and Koivu are not as appealing to other teams because of those three factors.

Put them in a pot, add fillings, spice it up with some paprika and other flavorings, and you've got goulash. Maybe you can sell it as a special in a third-rate restaurant.

unless all the other guys are not worth more than a 2nd (Dan Cloutier traded to LA for a 2nd... Why would Aebs be worth more?)

Sure, so you're telling me that if you put word out that Koivu, Kats and Kovalev are available, that some GM is gonna offer you more for Kats? Dude, I want what you're drinking.

I'm just curious to see why you would put Price before Higgins on your list. Higgins has proven he can compete at the NHL level last season. he proved he has the potential to become a very good player. Price, I'm not putting him down, but hasn't proven anything yet. he's still "unproven" at this point in his career.
I dunno, only my opinion here, but I think Higgins' name is mentionned more than Price in trade talks when Gainey is talking with other GMs
