You have a feeling when he comes back is is gonna be a big piece of the puzzle.

But, not this year. Next few years.

So, you do admit he needs more time in the AHL then, eh?

I don't understand what the issue is.

I recall Sam and JD saying he loved every minute of it. I'm assuming they asked him and relayed it to us fans the next game.

There is no issue. I have said about 1000 time that i have no problem with his going to the AHL for a while

If a guy constantly overstays his shift how is giving him more time punishment?

It's like suspended a kid from school for skipping.

Its kinda like getting caught smoking by your parents and them telling you to smoke the whole pack type of punishment.

Is there any way the Rangers can trade Kreiders AHL rights so he can play on a top team down there. It may expediate his growth if he's playing on a better team with more skilled guys around him. Maybe he can come back up later in the season and play on Richards and Gabbys wing

It would be odd when you consider all the measures the Rangers took to get him to leave college early.

I think he gets recalled in two weeks.

Where ever he gets ice time.

Doubt very much he will be down there very long, when they start to realize they still have scoring depth issues.

When's Stepan getting sent down for Kyle Jean?

Hell, let's demote Richards for Ryan Bourque.

Good, CK needed a kick in the pants.

Needs to start playing with some urgency and smarts.

I'll laugh my ass off if they get smoked the next few games while Kreider stinks in the AHL, and they recall him.

And if they win and win and Kreider shreds the AHL, they'll keep him down.

Proof that there's no rhyme or reason to the way Torts runs a hockey team.

Prime Khabibulin and Prime Lundqvist.

Must be nice.

Kreider's played bad the whole season including the AHL. Mediocre production and long stretches of being invisible will rightfully so send you down to the minors.

And I really hope the Rangers don't waste the SPC on Miller by playing him, but I'm expecting it to happen. He's clearly outmatched and needs to be sent down as well.

Take a look at Max Pacioretty's career stats and see what AHL time did for him. I don't think Kreids is too far off, dude was living with his mom and dad his earlier go around in HFD and was coasting for the entire lockout; now he has a chance to prove himself at that level the way he was supposed to do earlier this year. Nothing wrong with him coming in later in the season with confidence and scoring ability. He can't keep showing flashes here and there when he should be contributing shift in shift out.

This move will help Kreider. I don't think he's lazy but it easy to feel entitled when your organization rushed to get you to play in the playoffs for your first time on the ice. He needs more ice time to learn so this is a good move.

He needs to get that tentative aspect out of his game. This season, the only time he has shown his speed and a willingness to engage is on the rush over the opposition's blue line. Thats nice and all, but its only a small part of an overall game.

As Torts has said, he needs to watch Hagelin. That little guy is fearless and uses his speed to get into every area of the ice - especially the dirty areas. Considering how much bigger and stronger Kreider is, it baffles me as to why hes so tentative out there.
I was wondering the same thing watching him in HFD earlier this year, and you hit the nail on the head as to why he's headed down to HFD. I don't think its a set back, Torts' bechings seem to make players understand their role better, and I think the same will hold true for Kreider.

Very few players walk straight into the NHL and stay there. Most see stints in the AHL. Most see a few.

Not surprised, not upset.

Ducks fans all over Kreider being sent to the AHL. I'm shocked.

They're never going to let go of the comments about Palmieri dragging his line down in the WJC.

Garbage. People love to blame Torts when the players that they like struggle. Boyle's his favorite, right? He'd never healthy scratch him three games in a row and let a rookie take his spot. Richards is his favorite right? He'd never bench him in the third period of a tie game. Now Hagelin is his favorite? The same guy he shat all over in the post-game at the beginning of the season?

Hagelin is held in high regard right now because he's been playing like an animal. He's telling other players to play like him because his motor is on at 100% all the time - he's the first in on the forecheck, he gets the puck to the net and he never, ever stops moving. Torts is telling the other players that they need to be hustling and moving all the time. Gaborik's lack of hustle I understand, that's been his game for a long time and he's put up more than enough numbers to prove that it works. Kreider, on the other hand, should be taking notes from Hags. He's got the footspeed but he hasn't been using it to his advantage like Hagelin has.

I don't think Torts would argue with you about Kreider having solid upside - that's why he's getting sent down to a league that he should be able to build confidence in instead of sitting up in the NHL and struggling to establish himself as a regular. Miller's has made mistakes, yes, but not showing the proper effort hasn't been one of them with much regularity IMO.

The only positive I take from this is that I'm visiting my cousin at Hartford tomorrow and will be going to the Whale game, so I will get to see Kreider!
