I think thats crap Kreider is a good kid who loves hockey and plays hard. I never said he played amazing thsi year he hasnt but i have a feeling that when he comes back he is gonna be a big piece of the puzzle not just this year but in the next few years
You have a feeling when he comes back is is gonna be a big piece of the puzzle.
But, not this year. Next few years.
So, you do admit he needs more time in the AHL then, eh?
Is there any way the Rangers can trade Kreiders AHL rights so he can play on a top team down there. It may expediate his growth if he's playing on a better team with more skilled guys around him. Maybe he can come back up later in the season and play on Richards and Gabbys wing
Take a look at Max Pacioretty's career stats and see what AHL time did for him. I don't think Kreids is too far off, dude was living with his mom and dad his earlier go around in HFD and was coasting for the entire lockout; now he has a chance to prove himself at that level the way he was supposed to do earlier this year. Nothing wrong with him coming in later in the season with confidence and scoring ability. He can't keep showing flashes here and there when he should be contributing shift in shift out.
This move will help Kreider. I don't think he's lazy but it easy to feel entitled when your organization rushed to get you to play in the playoffs for your first time on the ice. He needs more ice time to learn so this is a good move.
Kreider's game has all the signs of a kid that has gotten by being bigger, stronger, and faster than everyone else during most of his hockey career. Relying on physical tools didnt really work in the AHL, and it sure as hell isnt going to work in the NHL.
He needs to get that tentative aspect out of his game. This season, the only time he has shown his speed and a willingness to engage is on the rush over the opposition's blue line. Thats nice and all, but its only a small part of an overall game.
As Torts has said, he needs to watch Hagelin. That little guy is fearless and uses his speed to get into every area of the ice - especially the dirty areas. Considering how much bigger and stronger Kreider is, it baffles me as to why hes so tentative out there.
I was wondering the same thing watching him in HFD earlier this year, and you hit the nail on the head as to why he's headed down to HFD. I don't think its a set back, Torts' bechings seem to make players understand their role better, and I think the same will hold true for Kreider.
Simple Torts has his favorites. I mean i have talked to many Rangers fans and they ahve said similar things. I mean look at miller he lets the kid play through mistakes but not Kreider who IMO has much more upside. If kreider played awful then fine but he didnt play awful.
Garbage. People love to blame Torts when the players that they like struggle. Boyle's his favorite, right? He'd never healthy scratch him three games in a row and let a rookie take his spot. Richards is his favorite right? He'd never bench him in the third period of a tie game. Now Hagelin is his favorite? The same guy he shat all over in the post-game at the beginning of the season?
Hagelin is held in high regard right now because he's been playing like an animal. He's telling other players to play like him because his motor is on at 100% all the time - he's the first in on the forecheck, he gets the puck to the net and he never, ever stops moving. Torts is telling the other players that they need to be hustling and moving all the time. Gaborik's lack of hustle I understand, that's been his game for a long time and he's put up more than enough numbers to prove that it works. Kreider, on the other hand, should be taking notes from Hags. He's got the footspeed but he hasn't been using it to his advantage like Hagelin has.
I don't think Torts would argue with you about Kreider having solid upside - that's why he's getting sent down to a league that he should be able to build confidence in instead of sitting up in the NHL and struggling to establish himself as a regular. Miller's has made mistakes, yes, but not showing the proper effort hasn't been one of them with much regularity IMO.
