First, I'm talking about this season going into the playoffs (or do you think that's too early). Second, isn't he a winger?

Unless there are a plethora of injuries, I don't see them bringing him in.

Is the 1yr ELC burned this year already?

Yes, he has been loaned back to his SEL club so it wouldn't matter. I just hope he comes over to NA after his season is fully over. Even if it is just 10 games in the AHL.

Yeah, this is an issue for sure down the road too, with both Gabby and Nash playing RW. Fasth can play LW too, but in the NHL I think he is best off to start on the right side, its his natrual position too. But again, its not easy if you need to bump one of Gabby, Nash or Cally to get 3rd line ice time lol...

Agreed, also, and I am definitely not saying that Fasth is ready and would do it either late this season or early next year, but bumping someone like Kreider wouldn't be too hard right now for anyone really -- if he were ready.. To be perfectly honest.

I mean, lets say for example that Fasth came in and was just as good as Hagelin, a Hagelin II would undoubtedly keep Kreider out of the lineup.

HV71 playing Skelleftea today. HV71 up 2-0 in the first. Fasth with the only assist on the first goal, a shortie by Krog. (Didn't know Fasth was getting PK time - good stuff.)

Lindberg registered a number of shots, but nothing else so far.

Fasth with an assist so far. He's playing Lindberg's Skelleftea. HV71 is up 2-0 in the first.

Fasth beat Lindberg 4-0. Fasth finished with a single assist and Lindberg obviously got nothing.

This is really minor, but can someone clear up whether Fasth has 31 or 32 points? He's listed here as having 31 points in 40 games, but on Euro Hockey he's listed as having 32 points in 40 games (they credit him with an extra assist): http://www.eurohockey.com/stats/leag...litserien.html

Whose numbers are wrong?

Edit: And HockeyDB claims he has 31 points: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php?pid=127581

Edit 2: Also, this is a question for Ola: Do you think he will eventually regain the speed he lost in last season's injury?

It's 31 points. The official SEL stats can be found at http://stats.swehockey.se. The link to Fasth/HV71 is below.

No problem. And here's the link to his profile/stats on the official SEL website: http://www.hockeyligan.se/trupp/HV71/3238. It also has videos of all his points.

I have a ton of links to everything in the first post of this thread.

31 points in 40 games prorates to about 64. How are his linemates? How much ice time does he get? How much PP ice time does he get? With what unit? Is the PP effective? How hard is it to score in the SEL? All factors. 64 point is not too shabby, however I'd be curious about the context.

Also, how does Fasth utilize his speed? On the forecheck like Hags or on breakaways like Grabner? Both?

More like Hagelin.

From what I have seen of him he is fast, but it is more quickness and elusiveness. The way he shields the puck and is able to slide off of defenders reminded me of Datsyuk with the way defenders have a very hard time squaring him up.

hes fast, but i dont think he's on Hagelins level, or as agile as hagelin.

probably a worse callahan....Callahan also has a bigger net presence than Hagelin...

similar players in some ways, and yet very different.

Hagelin is fast, sure, but what makes him so damn awesome is his agility... might be the most agile guy in the NHL, his changes of direction are sickening to watch, it's almost tough to believe anyone can be that quick.

If we can get a guy that is even close to the way Hagelin plays but with a higher skill level we'd have a great player.

I disagree. Hagelin is fast because his feet are so quick and he doesn't stop moving. Fasth is more agile in the way he can change directions and maneuver his skates to go with a check. Like I said, defenders have a very difficult time squaring him up the same way they do with Datsyuk or Crosby or Eriksson. He has that skill.

I think we are looking at another Hagelin. He is not identical, but I think he will be another two-way player with excellent skating ability who can net around 50 points per season.

Fasth is presently #6 in points per game in the SEL, and that number should rise further. And nobody can claim that he's just feeding off his line mates because he's the best player on the team.

That is where he has a clear advantage over Hagelin.

So, we are getting Hags +?
That would be a grand slam.

Everyone makes it sound like he has more skill than Hags though.
