The Hawks completely respect and love Toews. They killed off a 4 minute penalty all because of Toews..and they looked inspired to kill it off for Toews not to feel like crap giving them a 4 minute power play. Then the Hawks score as soon as the penalty is over. Coincidence? I don't think so.

The Sharks must not have been inspired by Thornton's embellishment.
The hell are you bringing Sedin into this for?

The refs didn't have the guts to make that call even though it was the one to make. They just didn't want to give the home team's captain 21 minutes of penalties and give a six minute power play.

This is a load of crap. The Hawks "love" Toews, so they're "inspired" to kill off the penalty?

Man, Toews gets credit for the PK even though he didn't do anything on it.

Toews rarely fights but when he does he always drops them with guys he could never hope to win against.

Wasn't his last fight against Backes? Yeah...it went about as well as this Thornton one.

Watch it... Joe's got 2 inches and 20 pounds on Toews. Toews pushes him in the lower back and somehow Thornton's legs fly out.

Don't be a homer. It was a clear cross check. The refs let Toews off the hook. He should of got 4 5 10

That was funny. Jonny covered his head with his hands. Why did he even bother going after him?

Not sure why Sharks fans are whining about getting a 4 minute power play.

Should've been
Toews: 2 minute instigating
2 minute instigating with shield
2 minute "boarding"

Thornton:
2 minutes for embellishment

Result: 4 minute power play.

Instead we got the result a different way.

It was a clear cross check and Thornton embellished it. I am not saying Thornton dove or anything.

There was no embellishment on the play, also you forgot the 10 minute misconduct for Toews.

No, it should've been a 10 minute misconduct for Toews aswell. But he plays under the 'Intagibles' Rulebook, whereas the Sharks play under the 'West Coast team' rulebook. See Desjardins on Mayers for exhibit A.

It is very unfortunate the Hawks are getting the benefit of the doubt. The main board would be much more bearable if they were not.

And Toews should have received a 10 minute misconduct. But that's only if you're playing by the official NHL rules.

Two minutes for embellishment? When have you ever seen a ref call someone for embellishment on a cross-check/boarding like that? Give me a break. Toews should be serving 21 minutes of penalties instead of 9.
