Toews should have gotten instigator and face shield.

But... Thornton embellished.

Initial penalty aside, I don't get how Toews didn't get an instigator and instigating with a visor on.

So he boards him twice and instigates and doesn't get tossed? Hopefully he gets a phone call.

At least Thornton destroyed him in the fight. Justice!

What about the blackhawks player covering the puck in the crease? No call.

That was the biggest instigation of a fight I have ever seen. Love Toews but wow... this league really is a joke with its consistency.

Eddie O. probably didn't mention it because it was a missed call against the Blackhawks.

It really does seem that every favorable call the Hawks get is immediately transmitted.

I don't support most of the calls that have been made, but that doesn't mean the Hawks are an inferior team. That's my only issue here; every team gets favorable calls, it just seems that the Hawks have gotten a more healthy dose of them this season.

Who cares if Thornton embellished... That's not the point. The refs obviously did not get the penalties correct and there's no reason for them not to have.

Can't make big calls like that on that team, its buried in the rulebook somewhere.

He went down easy, but it was a clear penalty. The equivalent of a guy throwing his head back after a high-stick to make sure the refs saw it.

The Hawks completely respect and love Toews. They killed off a 4 minute penalty all because of Toews..and they looked inspired to kill it off for Toews not to feel like crap giving them a 4 minute power play. Then the Hawks score as soon as the penalty is over. Coincidence? I don't think so.

The Sharks must not have been inspired by Thornton's embellishment.
Intangibles.

Totally agree. Just commenting on those that didn't think he had.

Obviously. I think I saw something dripping down Toews leg... Some yellow substance. Must have distracted him.

Similar no call last night in the Panthers/Habs game. In OT. Obvious blatant trip (even though Hubs may have embellished a little bit, which is understandable considering how many no calls have gone against him this year and the fact that they missed earlier in the game), wasn't called, a few seconds later, the Habs win the game.

Refs as a whole have been horrible this year.

This isn't the NFL. And at least there, they had the excuse of being replacements.

I dunno, if the Sedins ever got into a fight I would assume that they would try to go down as fast they could like little Jonathan did. Lol at Toews being credited for killing the PP and completely random threads becoming jabs at the Sedins

Don't **** with Big Joe. Toews was lucky that Thornton clearly went really easy on him

It doesn't matter if Thornton went down easy. No ref is ever going to call embellishment on a player for a cross-check/board like that. It still doesn't negate the fact that Toews got lucky both that he didn't get his block knocked off and that he didn't get the right amount of penalties for what he did.

Umm that's why Toews was mad at Thornton, because he embellished it...

Sharks got a 4 minute power play out of it.

Why would he want to fight there? The Sharks were getting a PP.

Toews is lucky that Joe isn't the same as he was ten years ago. Would of put his fist through his face and would of deserved it.
