Interesting to hear a GM from a scouting background acknowledge advanced stats. Did he mention any specifically?
He declined to name them. He was very adament in saying that they should only be used as a tool to reinforce decisions though and that they weren't solid enough to make decisions on alone.

Yeah right, he should've played in some high profile market like Nashville.
His problem was that he wasn't as good as other defensemen in the league. If he was, then maybe he'd be a Norris contender.
shocking to watch how ****ing quiet the Bruins are when they play buffalo and Scott. Thornton quiet like a mouse. No pushing, cheap-shots. amazing when the bully gets punched out

The Bruins always seemed to push the Sabres around but since Scott knocked the **** out of Thornton they've been quite tame in the 2 games since then.. Lucic hasn't been very noticeable in the few Bruin games I've watched this year either IMO.
i'm not saying the habs are contenders, i'm not saying we're making the playoffs but i am saying that the east is WIDE open. EVERY single top 8 team has holes. if habs can get in...with a really solid puck-moving D and a hot price...we have a shot. Bergevin is going to have to address two holes: a crease clearing, shot-blocking D man + a scoring winger with size....
use whatever is necessary--our 2nds, eller or desharnais, white, prospects...etc...

A big scoring winger like Cole Patches and Bourque ? What we need is a playmaking winger. We have 0 wingers able to pass.

It has nothing to do but if you deny that Markov was a superstar you never watched him play. He had a 68 point season for christ sake.
