its not about like..

its about getting this team to work like a NHL team, and not a bunch of beer leaguers who've never met.

some of the games we've seen this season, it would be easy to beleive these guys had never seen each other before.

I can't judge how good of a coach he is, but to me it's somewhat strange to have a guy go from being in the lineup, then being a healthy scratch the next game, and finally end up on the first line.

Giroux trying to hard?

Ship him to LA!

Quote:
There was also a funny moment last night when a reporter asked Giroux how he responded to Laviolette saying he was trying too hard. He said, "Yeah, he said that, but what does that even mean? Try too hard? What am I supposed to say, 'Ok. I'll try less?' Who says that? So, while I heard what he said, I still tried as hard as I could to contribute to my team and helps us get the win tonight."

Steady the course....

To me, the game against the lightning was huge... not just because of the win, but it looked to me like lavi modified his system to beat theirs, we played a defensive masterpiece of a game.

Don't know what thread to put this in so this'll do.

My problem with Lavy is that he's so tactically naive. If his system works then it works and we ruin riot. However, if the opposition change it up then he has no idea what to do. Adapt and evolve? Screw that, just keep trying Plan A until we win.

I've had enough, it's time to go Lavy. You get outcoached every single night, it's getting a little embarrassing.

It's lovely if it works but it's working less and less as teams figure us out. It's twice in a row this season where we've had a really good 10 minutes in the first against the Devils. On both occasions they've seen this, changed it up and we've been boys against men for the rest of the game with no breakouts, no chances, no defense and no hope. We're the most stubborn, tactically naive team in the league. Look at tonight, we go into it tied after screwing up a lead in the second and have zero chances. That could be hyperbole but I genuinely don't remember a single one. In the end it's another 2 points surrended, another night drifting away from the play-offs with a roster of ridiculous quality. We're not even difficult to beat, teams must walk away from the game each night amazed at how easy it is.

Thanks for everything Pete but you're just not good enough without Pronger bailing you out.

I'm sorry but he can't get his team to play a good solid 5 man system in the defensive zone. That's why this team can't break out. It has nothing to do with the ****ing defenseman. The Wingers are never in the right spots to help out the D-men. We can blame the players or the GM but it should give you red flags that they have to hire somebody on the coaching staff to handle the defensive aspect of the game.

He won't be fired until it's incredibly, amazingly obvious it isn't working. Homer kept Stevens way too long, and he's kept Hanrahan for way too long. For a guy willing to trade players for anything, he sure seems reluctant to fire people.

Holmgren is a bit like Burke in that sense.

He didn't fire Wilson until it was impossible to justify him staying on as head coach. Heck he gave his best buddy a contract 2 months before he was fired.

I think Lavy is a much much better coach than Wilson but it wouldn't hurt the Flyers to think about a coaching change over the season.

The short season will save Lavy but this team needs some structure bad. They are making the same mistakes over and over again and it isn't just the young guys.

The question is, who replaces him?

We've been level at the end of the second period on 4 occasions this year.

0 points.

There's a solid chance they use Murray on an interim basis if Lavi gets axed. I don't know how I feel about that, but it's what I expect.

Ride out the season and see where we wind up.
Playing like bozos at the end of the season, then he has to go.
If we are playing competitive hockey, then he should come back.

With the brutal schedule and lack of practices i just don't see Lavy getting axed right now. Especially for a guy like Murray who has a completely different system.

I believe they will ride this out and make the decision in the off-season. Depending on how the rest of this season unfolds. Quite frankly i've gotten tired of Lavy and his stale ass jam.

im not sure Snider will agree..

he only has so many seasons left in him..he wants to win before crossing over...you can bank on that.

Yes. He doesn't ever make adjustments. Stevens was here for three years, Hitch was here for four. It's time to go.

Yeah...ignoring the things like goaltending last year, rookies, injuries, etc. there have been common fatal flaws that have not changed. I think I've seen enough.

Lavy's ship has been on it's way down all day every day since around July 2010.
