It's a start. Hopefully he has some confidence with the W. It's a start.

He got better as the night got on, got more confident and aggressive with his reads. I think the W tonight will be big for him.

He's shown he can carry us for short periods. I think he plays better as a starter than a backup. He did great when Kari was out last season, then faded when relied on for spot starts.

Only thing left is to pray for Kari's groin. Animal sacrifices anyone?

I'm still not convinced he's a viable backup for this team. He needs to stop the flopping and work on reading plays rather than staring straight at the puck the entire time. Maybe that will come with more experience or maybe he's just going to have to realize he CANNOT rely on this defense to make his job any easier, but I'd rather see Nihlstorp back in net before I want Bachman to be the stand-in starter if Lehtonen is out for an extended time.

Yeah, I'm not going to change my mind on Bachman all because he had a good period after what he put together the five prior periods.

Congrats to Reilly smith on his first nhl goal. A lot of great years ahead of him #stars
This is about the time into his time in the AHL it all started clicking. Patience tends to pay off, and hopefully this is the beginning of Reilly Smith paying them back for all that good will.

^Thank you

This truly is a brave new world when the front office is tweeting at their players.

That's fair, but what about what he did last season when Kari went down?

We should have an HF victory song ... and this one is good, but it wouldn't get my vote.

I really don't even think Bachman was giving up terrible goals so much as he just wasnt making the massive saves that Kari routinely makes look easy.

He was good for a couple of weeks to fill in for Kari, but as the season went on, his play slipped.

He is usually way better than that. The Smith and Eakin goals were basically gifts.

While that's true, his constant flailing around like he's just been shot in a war movie gets OLD.

Ya thats why I said what I did about him being better as a starter. Thus part of the reason I'm not as worried if Kari's out a few games. I think Bachman will play better with some consistent starts than he does in spot B2B duty.

you mean after they played a rookie netminder a ridiculous number of games in a row? It was clear he needed a break and didnt get one.

Bachman is getting too much flak, the D is to blame, not him. We are all just used to Kari bailing us out 95% of the game.
