She's just now becoming vocal about it. She's been in wedding-mode since before last night, she just wasn't telling you.

You need to read Hajime No Ippo. It's 1004 chapters of around 20 pages each, but it's very good and still ongoing. Yeah, it's a manga. I was suspicious at first too, because I'm not a big fan of mangas, but that one is great.

The main character is like a tiny Japanese Mike Tyson who is bullied at school until a pro boxer kicks the bullies in their respective bottoms. He starts wondering what it's like to be strong, and wants to start boxing. He is 16 at the start of the manga.

I won't spoil more, but it's very, very good.
Remind me a gain in a couple of months when my schedule frees up some more. Right now I'm actually a couple months behind on Homestuck as it is, as well as pretty much every other webcomic I pay attention to.

Speaking of War and Peace though, without sounding like a twit, It does seem to me that Homestuck is rather more than a web comic. One could easily argue that it is literature, really.
It is, I think. It's a story told in a medium that is unique to the web. I consider it the first webcomic-novel. It's so new that there isnt even a word for it.

And I personally consider it the best sci-fi/fantasy epic in existence. And I'm sure the ending will be epic, when it finally comes.

Well, that makes me a little hopeful. Having Harrison Ford reprise his role as Han Solo basically means they CANT redo the vast majority of the stuff that already exists in the EU.

I hope they get Mark Hammil to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker, now a Jedi Grandmaster.

I really need to start reading Fate of the Jedi sometime. Dammit, my to-enjoy list is getting so friggin long.

Time-travel, cloning, aliens, magic, and ancient gods? I reckon that meets the requirements.

my family alone is over 200. yeah, my wife's idea of small was under 400.

elope! or make it a destination wedding where only so many people will come anyway.
you can invite everyone, and etiquette states that all those who come don't have to bring presents but everyone who can't come should buy a present.

and idk...Homestuck seems a little too childish to really call literature of any sort.
Sorry, it's fun and all but...

At least your weddings don't turn into drunken parties, I hope. Gotta love my family.

Half of the people were hung over coming INTO the wedding. There were bottles of vodka being circulated around the church on my sister's wedding. I was too young to drink back then, but I turned 16 on the next day so my cousins took me into a bar (Germany's drinking age is 16). Let's just say that... It's all a bit hazy, but we had fun.

My sister said "around 45 people" was the goal for her wedding. 250 people.

Apparently it wasn't about who she wanted to invite; it was the people she had to invite.

Well, since there was only one family to be invited, it's kind of expected.

Not a bad idea. By buddy got married in Vegas a few years ago. They had the Bellagio set everything up (ceremony, catering, reception, pictures, etc.) and it was a really nice wedding with about 20-30 family and friends. Plus, it's something that not everybody does, which makes it a little more special to you and the people that do come.

Bought a few movies at Target today. Skyfall Bluray+DVD for $20, Savages Bluray+DVD for $20, and Casino Royale Bluray+DVD for $10.

It was either get all of those or buy NHL 13. I've made it this long without NHL 13, so I think I can last until NHL14 to buy that.

We eloped to Maui and just paid the way for our parents, brothers and sisters (and their significant others) for a 3 night stay. After they went home, it became our honeymoon.

Worked out extremely well and in the end was cheaper than what we were pricing the wedding out at.

Best of luck going through the process Jarick.

hope the MOB is sane and helpful. they can turn it into a cake walk for you or a nightmare as they and their daughters clash. You must ALWAYS support your bride in any argument.

a few...the one I remember best is The Crying of Lot 49.

oh lord, you can't be comparing this with Pynchon?

Homestuck is absurdest, but beyond that I don't see anything.

Not trying to offend anyone--just my opinion. Thinking about it and the themes yes, of course it must be considered sci-fi/fantasy but so could the babbling of my 5 year old niece as she tells herself a story on the (long, long) car ride to Fargo.

I see a lot of Pynchon, Joyce, Rushdie, and elements of Borges in Homestuck.

I think people are too quick to discount non-traditional media in literature. Harvey Pekar still isn't recognized for his achievements.
