I am a little confused, Nill has already said Pulkkinen is coming over... Now if they are talking directly on to the Wings, I don't see that happening, but they have said for months now that the plan is for Pulkkinen to come over next year.

They never seem to confirm their intentions before they actually happen.. And Babcock, Holland, Andersson or Nill are rarely on the same page when it comes to commenting on players for that matter. In this case, I think Andersson simply doesn't want to say too much before anything's set.

Hey I like Andersson but I think he just flat out misspoke on this. I know he is the head of European scouting but when the assistant GM and the GM of the Griffins says the following.

Quote:
Jarnkrok and Pulkkinen will be in North America next season, competing for a spot on the Red Wings roster.

“Let them come to camp and see where they fit in,'' Nill said. “If they're ready, good. If not, they'll go to Grand Rapids.''
I take that as the plan. They have really been saying it since the summer. For those interested they also run down the other big European based players in the article that was done at the end of December.

I think there's little doubt what the plan is. But Andersson never confirms anything no matter what, which isn't his job to do either. For example, Backman signs a new deal in the SEL and Andersson says something like "he'll probably need at least another year in Sweden". That is the typical Andersson answer.

McKee had an assist, 3 SOG and was +2 last night. I believe he'll miss today's game due to the suspension he got last week.

Goonery aside, it feels like McKee is having a fairly solid hockey season too. Guy is reaching towards last year's totals in half the games.

My one concern is he was supposed to play for WMU this season. I feel like getting into a league where he will have to rely more on his hockey talent should help him improve as a prospect. Is he still slated to go the college route?

That was a rumor. He was always supposed to go to WMU in 2013-2014 season.

Good news. I enjoy the fighting but the only way he's going to have any shot making it as a prospect is brushing up his defensive game. Tough to do when you are getting suspended all the time.

I think it makes sense when you consider it from the perspective of McKee trying to show the Wings he's what they lack. He knows he's going to go several years without being able to scrap (at least regularly), so he's got to show the Wings that he can be the legit tough guy right now. After this year, it's going to be 4 years straight of work on his actual hockey game.

I'm pretty sure they knew what they were getting when they drafted McKee, so I'm not convinced they wanted him to get suspended a bunch to prove what a hard ass he is in the USHL. The most important thing for him is to prove his defensive capabilities. I have no problem with him fighting and getting suspended all the time in the USHL because it's not much of a league as far as further development goes. I am glad to hear he'll be in the NCAA next year because he'll get a very good opportunity to develop his defensive game at WMU and Murray is a very good coach.

Pulkkinen has really been on a tear the past 20 games or so hasn't he? I'm pretty happy about it to as I was really disappointed with his production for the first half of the season or so.

Did he finish with anything else? It seems he's been unable to put up any points recently but as long as he is still creating chances I'm not worrying about it.

Also big thanks to you guys for keeping us North Americans up to date with these guys!

Nope, he did score the descisive goal in the shootout and won the game for the team, that's clutch.

His team has lost A LOT lately, it's not easy being a one-man-team

Yeah looking at the scoring for the team he really has no other forward to help him, he does have Gunderson there putting up some points though.

It also seems like Lindholm has cooled off quite a bit.

Not sure about you guys. I'm just not that big on Järnkrok... At best I think maybe he can be a filppula like player.

Just my opinion but anytime you can draft a guy (like Filppula) that's a legit top 6 guy you've made a great pick. First rounders your hoping for top line guys. Second rounders for 2nd-3rd liners. Anything past that if they make the NHL that's a plus.

Marshall had 2 assists last night, was a -1 though.

What's up with Bodin? Hasn't played a game in a long time.

That's not required at HFBoards.

Possible momentum changer for his team. They tied the game up with 3 seconds left and won after 7 straight losses. That SO GWG of Calle also counts as a goal in the SEL. It was Calle's first multi-point game since Dec 30th. Speaking of Lindholm his production pretty much follows Calle's, he also had 1+1 and his first multi-pointer since Dec 6th. Definitely little scoring help there nontheless.
