M. Michalek and Neil to Sharks

Just throwing this out there. Sharks have lots of centers and some centers-gone-winger, so it would be nice to bring in some pure wingers. Michalek obviously has history with San Jose, and Neil could bring a hard edge to get the Sharks motivated. I know Michalek is a UFA at the end of 13-14 and Neil is signed through 15-16. Is Neil unlikely to be moved? I'm just not very tuned into much of the Senators' situation.

F Milan Michalek
F Chris Neil

?

Would hate to give up Clowe, but I assume he'll be one of the first names tossed into the mix. What would it take? Most Sharks fans are ready for Douglas Murray to be moved, and with Karlsson gone ( ) I figure a D-man coming Ottawa's way might help. What do you all think? Be gentle.

Ottawa loves Niel. I'd like to have him but I doubt they want to give him up. I like Michalek but he is a big injury risk.

Two horribly underachieving pending UFA's for the only good peace we gave up in the Heatley trade. If I'm Ottawa I'm all over that.

Yeah, I considered his injury history, but I get nostalgic thinking back to his time in San Jose and would love to see him alongside Thornton. Maybe Michalek-Thornton-Havlat/Pavelski?

I would assume they would target Couture given his 67s background. Probably out of the question for the Sharks, but giving up their best winger and a fan favourite who is also a premier bottom six player would take a hefty price

It's very unlikely that one of these guys get moved. Ottawa isnt selling. Gonchar can be moved and maybe some depth guys but its not like two seasons ago when they traded fisher, kelly etc.

No we wouldn't target Couture, he'd be too difficult to acquire. We need a top 6 winger to replace Michalek. Ottawa will keep Neil, he's not leaving. Michalek is still injury prone, so it's probably better for us to keep him. Don't think he has much value.

Michalek would have to be the right price. Young top 4 dman.

Neil isn't going any where.

Burns, Couturier or Vlasic
Marleau already turned down a trade to us IIRC.

Michalek
Neil
Puempel

Havlat
Clowe
Murray
2013 1st

Breakdown:

Michalek holds a little bit more value than Havlat.
Neil is worth more than Clowe + Murray (only as pending UFAs, and it would take an overpayment to move him)
Puempel is the pure winger prospect the Sharks are looking for.

The Sharks blow. They aren't going to trade their first to re-acquire Milan, as much as I love him.

No kidding. Havlat>Michalek, in the first one, and Sens fans thinking they can get two firsts for him are insane.

That's a terrible offer for the Sens (something centered around Clowe and Murray). Neil (along with Alfie) is probably the heart and soul of the Ottawa team, and a major fan favorite. Michalek, though injured, is the only decent piece they got out of the Heatley debacle. And he's signed for 1 more year.

If I'm a Shark fan and thinking this is a terrible offer for them, imagine how the Sens fans are going to react.

Didn't say that had to be what went to Ottawa, just addressed that I figure Clowe would be looked at and if Murray could be involved I know most Sharks fans would be okay with that. Point of the thread was to get insight (which has been delivered) on what Sens fans would like to get from the Sharks if Michalek and Neil were headed to the Bay.

Not happening. Michalek is negotiable. He starts with a 1st round pick.

Neil will stay a Senator.

I would negotiate for Michalek but not for a pick. For young top 6er. Couture/Pavelski.

Obviously we'd add to Michalek.

They're not trading Couture.

Not even if we include names like Zibanejad, Silfverberg, etc.
